Photographer's Note
This weekend is the best time to shoot the blue carpet of Bluebells that cover most of the UK. Although common in much of Britain, bluebells are rare in the rest of Europe and absent from the rest of the world. This picture was taken not far from my house in a lovely wood.
The bluebell is a bulbous plant abundant in woods, hedgerows, and meadows adjoining woods. It thrives in good soil with partial shade.
Carpets of spring-flowering English bluebells, Endymion nonscripta, are a familiar sight throughout mainland Britain, from Cape Wrath on the north coast of Scotland to Land痴 End in Cornwall. The symbol of the Botanical Society of the British Isles, they thrive in damp conditions. The theft of bluebell bulbs from their native woodlands has become an increasing problem in recent years.

Hi Michael. Marvellous to behold. One of my favourite flowers. My wife and I have tried to grow them in our garden amongst the camelias- with varied success. They seem so much happier in their native environment. Beautiful colours and light in your photo. Regards. Klaudio.

Hi, a beautiful shot which portrays, as you say the carpet of bluebells. The colour is good as is the composition. The path draws you into the woods. I have posted bluebells today, as you say a good w/e for seeing them. Although not with the same success of dry conditions. Regards Jean

Very good composition, nothing to envy to some shop post cards, I like the winding road surrounded by the color of the flowers, I also expect a leprecon jump out form behind some tree any minute.
