Photographer's Note
"Elgol Dawn" - Moods of Elgol
The range of hills known as the Cuillin rises from the sea on the far side of Loch Scavaig, 4 to 5 miles from Elgol. I wanted to show the beautiful coloured stones just under the water so I waited till the surf just hit the far rock before disturbing calm water in the foreground. Due to the heavy tides at Elgol, there are a number of rock formations that only appear at certain times.
Skye and its smaller neighbours that make up the Inner Hebrides are known for their wild, beautiful landscapes of deep lochs and jagged mountains.

Wonderful photo Stephen. You work very well here with lights and colors. I didn't know this "Lee Filter System" can you tell me more about it?
You have the exit too?
Thanks

This is an amazing shot! The sense of drama and the impending storm is wonderful, and the rock formations are shown both close up and in a panoramic also, whcih gives an incredible sense of depth and 3 dimensions. Spectacular colour too. In my opinion, this is one of your best!

Stephen,
The long exposure gives the water a wonderful texture and allows for nice DOF and saturation. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. You did a great job of showing us the underwater rock with all their colors through the clear water.

Beautiful work Stephen. The composition with this wide angle is very nice. I colors are very beautifully captured. There is a lot to see in this photo, but it doesn't feel busy. Another winner from the Western Isles.

Ryan

Hello Stephen! Masteful use of the graduated filter and the wide angle. The angle looking down is just perfect along with the position of the horizon in the distance. The slightly blurred water is well seen.
Congrats!

Hi Stephen,
There痴 so many landscape done the same way on this site, with wide angle in hyerfocal. They mostly present the same feature, with a gradient filter and slow shutter. But this one is distinct with the beautiful colors you致e obtain. We can feel the filter on the left rock, but other than that, it痴 a dreamy photo with great foreground. AM

Hello Stephen,
Another great shot from sky. There is so much drama with the clouds and battering sea on the rocks. The foreground rocks show great details and light. You've done a wonderful job here and your photography keeps improving. Way to go !

Hi Stephen
Very good long time exposure shot with the wide angle lens which give this special effect of soft sea and vivid rocks on the foreground. I's a painting. Very well done

For me this is a winner Stephen.
I knew it by just looking at the thumbnail :)
First impression is it may feels like a completely cluttered composition but it just fantastic. Good work on the exposure, too. Nothing more to add. Great stuff Stephen. Cheers, Piotr

Your absolutely fantastic picture reminds me of my trip to Skye and the feelings I had there - could not even breathe not to disturb that beauty. Thanks.
