St Pauls & Millenium Bridge, a photo from London, England

Thanks for your visit.

This is a view of St Paul's seen from the south bank of the Thames (with the Tate Modern immediately behind me as I shot this photograph).
The interesting purple hue in the sky is as a result of the mixture of the last bit of blue colour in the night sky with low lying cloud that has reflected some of the light from the city glare below.

This night I had attempted several shots from atop the Millenium bridge seen here, but there was just so much pedestrian traffic that the notorious bridge vibration was just unacceptable ! I waited a bit but crowds criss-crossing the bridge that night were relentless.

I finally settled on this view. To get the silky finish on the water surface, I went for an exposure of 30 seconds @ F/7.1
ISO was at the F828's lowest of 64.

I really like this view, and how the bridge leads us straight towards the dome of St. Paul's. The purple sky is gorgeous, and I love the effect of the 30-second exposure on the water. Another awesome photo.

Hi Daniel,
It's nice to see you posting here on TE. This is a very attractive view with the old cathedral, the infamous 'wobbly' bridge and the long exposure. I love this bridge contrary to many people. This photo could easily be a postcard. It is perfectly taken just as your other night shots.
