Photographer's Note
Dear friends,
presented here is a shot of Richmond Bridge with the Thames on high tide.
This evening the tide was so high that a car which had been parked on the banks nearby was almost completely submerged by the waters !
Almost a completely cloudless night sky as the blue hour begins, so the ambient light is able to nicely illuminate the scene along with the artificial lights - for what we like to call cross-over light.
With this much ambient light, to be able to expose for a few seconds without OE my aperture is set to F/16 and I thereby hold the shutter open for 10 seconds.
One direct result of this being of course the smooth / calm water surface effect.
Thanks for looking :-)

it's been ages since you last uploaded a photo! as the master of blue-hour and perfect exposures, you shouldn't deprive us of your stunning shots. this one is gorgeous. I also like it a lot for I remember beautiful richmond, where I stayed during my visit.

Hello Daniel, this is a beautiful 'blue hour' shot. The river looks just like glass, giving you almost perfect reflections.
Good composition, I like the little views that we can see through the arches.
Excellent sharpness.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Daniel,
Nice blue hour shot! Your composition and POV are fine using the reflection to create nice depth and balance. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and DOF. The bridge forms a nice diagonal through the shot leading the eye to the town.

Asa

Hiyah Daniel, hope you are well :)
As you know this is my local bridge - I know that spot so well! Something I really like about this shot is the contrast in the colours of the light. The sun is setting in the west to the left of the shot, and you have caught the pink sunset hitting the water and reflecting onto the buildings at the top of the bridge. It is indeed a high tide - a good 3+ metres higher than normal for this spot, near to the upper most limit of the tidal Thames.
Nice timing and nice framing using the tree trunks and that branch; the flotsam is a bonus.
All the best, Casper
