Photographer's Note
Shiraz is the birthplace of the ancient Persian civilization. Blessed with a moderate climate and easy-going people, it痴 also the city of poets, literature, and Persian gardens. The earliest reference to the city, as Tirazi, is on Elamite clay tablets dated to 2000 BC. The modern city was founded or restored by the Umayyads in 693 and grew prominent under the successive Iranian Saffarid and Buyid dynasties in the 9th and 10th11th centuries, respectively. In the 13th century, Shiraz became a leading center of the arts and letters, due to the encouragement of its ruler and the presence of many Persian scholars and artists. It was the capital of Persia during the Zand dynasty from 1750 until 1800. Two famous poets of Iran, Hafez, and Saadi are from Shiraz, whose tombs are on the north side of the current city boundaries.
I was looking forward to visiting Shiraz. Unfortunately, our visit was too short. We had no time to see the famous garden and the tombs of Hafez and Saadi. But still, we saw interesting places. In the late evening, we went to see Shah Cheragh. It is the holy place and the tourists can go around only with the local guide. At first, he told us, it is impossible to go inside the mosque, but finally we could go there and even we could take pictures in the interior. Every inch of the surface is covered by mirrors. Maybe I will show it later. The rather exaggerated effect, I think.
The site began as a funereal monument with a mythic past. As the story goes, around 900 CE a wanderer caught site of a mysterious light shining off in the distance and went to investigate. He found a luminous grave that, when excavated, was found to hold the armored corpse of an important Muslim figure. Thus the site became a popular pilgrimage site for Shia Muslims, and a domed tomb structure was created to house the grave. The site was improved and expanded over the centuries with religious schools and other facilities being added to the complex. In the 14th century the site痴 signature mirrorball decoration was ordered at the behest of Queen Tash Khātūn who wanted the mosque intensify any light a thousand times over, the name 鉄hah Cheragh roughly translating to 適ing of the Light in Persian.

Hello Malgo,
I have been waiting for a while for the note, and possibly workshops, but never mind. It is a good photo with an exciting atmosphere created by the illuminations of the dome and minarets and the reflections in the pool. It is quite important to see the larger version to discover all the people gathered here in the evening, and also to enjoy the sharpness and fine exposure. I will come back here later when the upload will hopefully be completed.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Malgo,
You have captured well the mirror effect and the ripples on the water. The point of view is showing the details of the Mosque. I am learning a lot by reading your note. Well done, have a nice day.

Hello Malgo,
I remember the mosque (or the shrine) with the little mirrors everywhere. Shiraz was my favourite city in Iran where I met fantastic people.
However, I was a bit disappointed about the garden and the tomb of Hafez. Perhaps I expected too much ...
I also remember I was there in summertime and never in any country I have experienced such strict observance of the siesta. In the afternoon, literally everything closed, even the city parks. All you could do was walk around on the street or lie on your bed in your room but you obviously don't travel for the latter. No way to go in anywhere or even buy a drink. It seemed as if the residents of Shiraz were suffering more from the heat than me.
But as said, it was a wonderful city and I have fantastic memories of it.
You present us here a splendid night picture of the mosque with the orange illuminated dome and minarets.
The pool with the fountain make an excellent foreground.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Malgo,
Your informative notes and quite beautiful photographs, help us to get a realistic impression of this quite beautiful, holy place.
To see it at night, with lanterns and glowing reflections is amazing! It must have a superb atmosphere!
It reminds me of a wedding location that I attended in Ibiza, where there were pools and lanterns and everything glittered and glowed.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Malgo,
It is a really impressive building with large large central dome and the two towers on either side. All are lit beautifully by this golden light, which makes a great contrast with the blue parts in the foreground. Fine reflections too and great sharpness.

Hello, that mosque is grandiose illuminated by night. The two minarets and the golden dome are eye catching. A fountain is located in front of the monument. The place was not crowdy that evening. Excellent light management. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Hello Malgo, in the large version we get an excellent impression of this place.
The lights shine and are reflected on the water, and we can see people enjoying the experience.
The w/s pictures are also very interesting. The hall with all the mirrors, wow! That can't have been an easy shot to take.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Malgo.
A magnificent nocturnal composition, which highlights the illuminated areas of this mosque, blue for the entrance and pink for the dome and minarets, the fountain adorns a lot in front of it.
A fantastic photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and excellent clarity.
Well done. I love it.
Enjoy the weekend.
Very best regards.
Luis.

I saw a similar hall with mirrors in india, but there was not so much like that iranian hall. I liked it and I guess it is a curious main post with this distorted dome that looks like an egg. excellent nocturne image using well the elements.
take care
