Snowy day, a photo from Gilan, West

Photographer's Note

It痴 hard to get correctly exposed photos on a snow day unless you shoot on manual mode. If it痴 cloudy, foggy, or hazy out you値l often end up dark photos that lack contrast. Even when it痴 bright out out you値l tend to get dark photos because your camera doesn稚 know how to compensate for all the brilliant white in the scene. So snowy day photos often end up dark when you shoot on auto.

Hello Ali.
I suppose I am not very well informed about your country, so I would not associate this scene with Iran. But if you live in the north of the country, it must be very cold in the winter. This is a beautiful shot, well exposed. I understand what you mean by the difficulty of automatic exposure when there is so much white in the scene. You captured the details in the trees and the house very well. An elegant and delicate composition.

Hello Ali ,
As other members , this is not for me a typical Picture from Iran . But this is a big country with a large palet of climatic zones .
A splendid winter composition with the wooden cabin at a focal point . Excellent exposure of the snow .

Hello Ali.

The density levels are near perfect here with clean whites and solid blacks. Not easy to do with so much white in the screen to confuse meters. Good sharpness and graphism with minimalist colour. Tfs!

snowy landscapes are beautiful and often have a special atmosphere, so it's worth working and trying hard to get adequate exposures (that might affect the atmosphere even more.) There's a lot of potential when we don't rely exclusively on auto. This picture is well composed and lovely, I like the patterns of the trees against the smooth sky as well as the different grades of white. Congratulations and thank you!
