Photographer's Note
Another "narrow" picture from a street in Hama...
Unlike Aleppo and Damascus, nothing much of the ages is still existent in Hama although excavations revealed remains from as far back as the Neolithic period.
Hama was the center of Syro-Hittite by 11th century BC. Later it was the capital of the Aramean kingdom, as Hamath. Hamath is mentioned several times in the Old Testament.
Later conquered by Assyrians, followed by the Persians, Hama came to be known as Epiphania when it fell to the Seleucids in 200 BC.
Later comes the Romans and then the Byzantines during which it was used as a center for administration.
The Arabs took over Hama in 7th century AD. But it was always overshadowed by Aleppo and Damascus. Later it flourished under the Ayyubids, and the Ottomans.

An interesting atmosphere in this shot Fusun, dark in the foreground, light at the back. We don`t see the man`s head. This gives more mystery to the shot.

The framing is a fine traditional picturesque shot.
But the foul weather and the "fleeting" man adds an interesting "depressing spy-movie" quality. I like it.

Very good work Fusun. You have captured more depth - dark to light without over exposure. Nicely done and interesting note too. Thanks for sharing!

Interesting and nice shot...narrow lanes always have a special mood, sort of intimate. I like this man hiding away and the fact that the lane is almost like a funnel, getting narrower.

Excellent timing you had! Taking the picture while that person just takes the street to the left was excellent, good motion on it! The atmosphere is perfect combining with the note you gave us!

Strong composition Fusun, arches make for great frames. The presence of the man is a definite plus to the photo as it adds interest. I think it would have been better if you had waited for him to move to the centre of the lane. Cut out like he is now, makes it seem that he wasn't an intentional part of the photo. Just my opinion though, still a good photo.

A grat capture. The fact that the man runs out of the frame makes this shot very mysterious. I like these almot b/w colors. Well done, Fusun.

A great capture of light and dark, open and covered with movement among static structure.

The man, yes the man. Without him you would have no mystery. Great eye and great luck.

Without the man it would have been much better. But still you get the feeling of an old city.

Good shot. The lighting and dof are right on. And the person (doing whatever??!) adds to the mystery of it. Bravo!

Nice shot of a historical place. The rich history of the Middle east, going back to the times of the Byzantine period and even earlier than that, always enthralls me. Thanks for sharing.
