Photographer's Note
The snowcapped peak is a strato volcano; the 2nd highest in Turkey at 4,058 metres, after compound volcano Ararat (5,137 m). 'Dagi' is Turkish for Mount, so Mount Suphan or Suphan Dagi. This is the view the Kef Kalesi Urartian temple statues uploaded yesterday would have enjoyed. They are now in the Ankara Anatolian Civilisations Museum. This plateau was well defended by three very steep drops on three sides with a steep approach only accessible from the north. The 4 wheel drive track follows that route to reach Adilcevaz on the shores of Lake Van. This is also where the Persian Medes invaded from and sacked the Urartian Fortress and Temple. The clay bricks atop the ruins of the black basalt foundations are scorched by fire. The dormant volcano itself last erupted around 8050 BC.

Hello Chris,
A scaled up scenery from the green hills in the foreground and up the snowy summit at an altitude of better than 4Km.
I can follow the trails but only to the next slope, yet it added good sense of depth to the scenery.
Good evening,
Ike

Greeting.
today we are neighbors with photos at TE.
Beautiful mountain and roads, well shown with beautiful colors, contrast, perspective and good text. Beautiful photo and memory.
A well-captured moment with snow on the mountain and clouds coming.
I wish you all the best.
Paja.

Hello Chris,
This photo shows the wilderness and endless hills that struck me on my first journey through eastern Turkey. That emptiness made me feel very far from home. The narrow roads show that this is however not a totally empty area. The snow clad peak form a fine background.
Actually, the word for mount(ain) is 'dağ', whereas 'dağı' is a possessive form.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Chris,
I like a lot this kind of mountain landscape , without any tree , only the green pastures out of sight.

Hello Chris, an excellent view across the plateau towards the snow capped mountain.
The tracks are an interesting feature as they lead our eyes across the land.
Lovely natural colours.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Chris,
A fantastic landscape with these gently sloping green hills in the foreground and the snowy peaks in the distance right underneath the white clouds. Some other clouds also cast a very nice pattern of shadows onto the hills. The colours are pleasant and natural.

Hi Chris
The mountain looks impressive and the snow-capped peaks reveals its considerable height. I like the way the paths/roads lead the eye towards the distant view.
Best wishes

Hi Chris,
interesting that these wild appearing landscapes changed the ownership in the past, passing from one culture to another. I wonder whether there will be more changes like that in the future yet. I suppose European culture is set to disappear with not many children being born and with the influx of people from outside. This may case some further cultural changes. Who knows.
Great sight of the snow covered mountain from the perspective of the green hills in the foreground
