Photographer's Note

Emin� is a former district of Istanbul, currently a quarter of Fatih, the province's capital district. This is the heart of the walled city of Constantine, the focus of a history of incredible richness. Emin� covers roughly the area on which the ancient Byzantium was built. The Galata Bridge crosses the Golden Horn into Emin� and the mouth of the Bosphorus opens into the Marmara Sea. The name of the quarter, Emin�, reflects its place in history. Translated from Turkish to English it roughly means 'in front of fiduciary'. Emin meaning 'fiduciary', � meaning 'in front of'. The name most probably came from the Ottoman courts and customs houses on the docks; "Emin" was the title of an Ottoman customs official.

Emin� İstanbul'un eski bir il軻sidir, şu anda ilinin başkenti olan Fatih段n bir semtidir. Bu, inanılmaz bir zenginlik tarihinin odağında, Konstantin段n duvarlı şehrinin kalbidir. Emin�, kabaca antik Bizans'ın yapıldığı alanı kapsar. Galata Kr�s�, Hali�'ten Emin�'ne ge軻r ve Boğaz'ın ağzı Marmara Denizi'ne a�ılır. Mahallenin adı, Emin�, tarih i輅ndeki yerini yansıtıyor. T�rk軻den İngilizceye terc�me edildiğinde kabaca 'g�venin �nde' anlamına gelir. Emin 'g�ven', � '�nde' anlamına gelir. İsim b�y�k olasılıkla Osmanlı mahkemeleri ve rıhtımdaki g�mr�k evlerinden geldi; "Emin" bir Osmanlı g�mr�k yetkilisinin �nvanıydı.

Hello Murat,
A part of Istanbul that no visitor could possibly miss. Always full of people, action and colours (and sounds), always offering endless photo opportunities. On a day like this the fine light guaranteed fine photos. The tram starting its journey across the bridge is an interesting feature in the background.

Hello Murat,
Even though we can't hear hubbub seems exactly the right word to describe this crowded scene. An interesting street capture with lots to see, very well realised.

The metal structures of my picture through the arch in Evora are restaurant terraces I think. They will be crowded with chairs and tables when the season gets going and the weather warms up.
