Photographer's Note

The courtyard of the New Mosque has an elegant şadırvan (ablution fountain) but, according to Wikipedia, it is only ornamental. Actual ablutions are preformed with these water faucets on the south wall of the mosque.

Yeni Camii'nin avlusunda zarif bir şadırvan (abdest 軻şmesi) vardır ancak Vikipedi'ye ge sadece s�slemedir. Caminin g�ney duvarındaki bu musluklarda fiilen abdest alınmaktadır.

This fountain is part of the religious tradition or acts before entering any mosque for prayers, Murat.
The peolpe here gave good colors to the long wall, and the stairs case on far right added good sense of depth and scale.

nice the snapshot outside of the New Mosque with the lot of pilgrims to are washed at the ablution fountains.As i see some of the women use it for other reasons in contrast with the men.

Hello Murat,
This is an interesting photo which shows a less often seen part of the rituals of a visit to a mosque. The many persons, doing different things before entering the mosque, enliven the view but also create a relaxed atmosphere. They provide colourful details to the magnificent architecture.

PS Real dollars are probably out of reach for most poor Cambodians, and would most likely attract thieves to the temple.
