T�rkiye İş Bankası Museum

This building was the center for postal services since 1840. The large wooden building in this area, which was formerly used as a place where the cemetery tax was taken, belonged to the Foundations Ministry and was transformed into "Posthane-i ﾂmire" (Superior Post Office) because of its courtyard suitable for the animals, and its proximity the city trade and the waterfront. In 1870, when Postal and Telegraph administrations were merged and given to a supervisory administration, Postahane-i Amire was named "Istanbul Post Office". The wooden structure was demolished in 1890 and in its place the masonry building that is now home to the İş Bank Museum was built. The construction of the building, which was opened on 23 September 1892, was carried out by the contractor Sheikh Ahmed Muhtar Talat Effendi.

In 1927 the building was transferred to T�rkiye İş Bankası (Business Bank of Turkey). Work for opening the building as T�rkiye İş Bankası Museum began in 2005 and was completed in 2008.

Bu bina 1840 yılından itibaren posta hizmetlerine merkezdi. Bu alandaki celeri Evkaf Nezareti'ne ait olup cizye vergisinin alındığı yer olarak kullanılan b�y�k ahşap bina, hayvanların sığmasına uygun bir avluya sahip olması, şehir ticaretine ve sahile yakın bir yerde bulunması sebebiyle "Postahane-i ﾂmire"ye (ﾜst�n Postane) d�şt�r�ld�. 1870 yılında Posta ve Telgraf idareleri birleştirilerek bir nezaret idaresine verilince Postahane-i ﾂmire'ye "İstanbul Postanesi" adı verildi. Ahşap yapı 1890 yılında yıktırılarak yerine, bug�n İş Bankası M�zesi'ne ev sahipliği yapmakta olan k稟ir bina yaptırıldı. 23 Eyl�l 1892壇e hizmete a�ılan binanın inşaatı m�teahhit Şeyh Ahmed Muhtar Talat Efendi tarafından ger軻kleştirildi.

1927'de bina T�rkiye İş Bankası'na devredildi. Binanın T�rkiye İş Bankası M�zesi olarak a�ılması i輅n 軋lışmalar 2005 yılında başladı ve 2008 yılında tamamlandı.

The building reminding me a similar buildings in Jerusalem and Jaffa, same Othoman heritage.
Kept its grandeur and picture shows well the street in depth people stride by and beautiful architecture's.
