Hasankeyf Canyon, a photo from Batman, Southern East Anatolia

Photographer's Note

Some of the wild terrain a couple of km behind the town of Hasankeyf in eastern Turkey. I am not sure what the name of this canyon is. The google map of the area is blank outside the city limits. Only semi wild goats roam the tracks.

Hi Chris,
Barren land that only wild goats can ndure this terrain probably.
Yet, the earth-formation and geological layers are marvelous sight.
View in depth and to the length is immaculate on the photo.

Hi Chris,
I like cities and architecture but actually even more I like landscape photography. I don't have much time for it recently though.
This is truly beautiful here. I like the rock formations the shapes and curves. It looks quite attractive! In addition to it very well saturated and yet natural color tones which are eye catching.
This looks indeed like a place off the beaten track.
I like being surprised by a new to me place which I have never heard of, this is he case here. A place I would really like to visit and yet so little known.

Le regard se perd dans cette composition. Il s'駱arpille un peu partout � la recherche d'un point focal. J'aime beaucoup par contre les ombres au fond des ravins.

This image with the canyon reminds me a little of the surroundings of Ani. Perhaps it's a bit greener around there than here.

Hello Chris,

The rugged landscape in Hasankeyif stands out dramatically. In the distance there appears to be a pair of individuals, an adult and a child, but I cannot be sure. In any event they may serve as a scale effect if they are indeed humans.

when I think of Turkey, I really don't think of deep canyons in the landscape.

but I guess this is why it makes it that much more interesting.

how did you find out about this place? seems like there aren't many people around either. excellent lighting on the landscape with fine details.
