Photographer's Note
One of the few historic relics saved from inundation was this Islamic Tomb. Apparently the Turkish Government doesn't consider the Neolithic, Roman & Byzantine Monuments as important.

It weighs 1,100 tons & dates from the 15th century. A Korean firm successfully relocated it on 12 May 2017. I might load a workshop showing a more conventional view. The rising waters of the Ilisu Dam will flood the town beneath many metres of water.

Hello Chris,
Unless reading the note I would not think it was relocated. But a second look later, realized the "walls" behind are men-made and explain what you written about.
A fine document, well applied picture.

Hello Chris,
If the Neolithic, Roman & Byzantine monuments had all been converted to mosques, the entire city could possible have been saved. The WS view is also nice but this photo gives us a better idea of the immediate surroundings.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Chris, two lovely pictures of this site.
There has been so much devastation across the world at sites such as this; just imagine how much richer our knowledge and experiences would be if they had been left alone?
Excellent sharp quality.
Kind regards, Jean.

Bonjour Chris,
La falaise aide au cadrage la sc鈩e. La prise de vue permet de voir les d騁ails du tombeau de Zetnel Bay. La lumi鑽e fait ressortir les couleurs. Bonne journ馥.

Hello Chris,
A beautiful place, the ruins stand out very well from the steep cliffs in the background and the fine blue patterns on the round tower are still clearly seen on the ancient walls. Very good light also.

Hi Chris
what a great scene, if we're not paying close attention, it would be so easy to think we're looking at a stone wall, its as if it's camoflauged. love these historic sights, the WS is a fine shot too. Imagine this in its prime so many years ago, that would be awesome. cheers

Hello Chris,
This was definitely a historic building worth saving, displaying this iconic shape and revealing some beautiful patterned work. The undertaking must remind us of the efforts made to save the temple and statues in Egypt, when the Aswan dam was built.
I like this wider shot and the close up in your w/s, giving more intricate details.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hi Chris,
I suppose there is good and bad news here.
It is nice to hear that they did rescue something at least but indeed it shows some bias. I am sure if they wanted to rescue the other parts they could have easily found a sponsor from the west.
This looks beautiful here, in spite of that much damage.
Perfect composition with the tower subtly off centre and the remainder of wall nicely filling in the other side of the frame.
Excellent work,
M

Hello Chris,
Good to see you're back on TE with a brilliant series of pictures of ancient Turkey.
Very special that these remnants of the ancient culture have been moved.
Fortunately, we were prevented from admiring it only with a diving suit.
Well done
Have a nice day, groet Rob

Hello Chris,
Actually, your note seems like an answer to my question in your previous photo.
So some historic relics have been saved.
The ruin of the tomb looks beautiful and certainly worth the visit. I also note the impressive natural background.
Excellent clarity and sharpness.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Chris,
While they were relocating it, they might as well have renovated it. I love the canyon in the background.
