Pufuduk, that's a name I gave to this sweet girl in Beypazari in Central Turkey, about 100km from Ankara, the capital. Her real name was Melike and her family was from Mardin, in South-Eastern Turkey, from where they migrated to the suburbs of Ankara to have a better living.

Migration to big cities is a common and painful social phenomenon in Turkey. Melike was the youngest of a family with five children. Unlike her elder brothers and sister, she still couldn't speak Turkish. Well, I hardly speak Kurdish, nonetheless it was very easy to communicate with this cute & always laughing little girl.

The shadow on her face belongs to her elder brother who was taking care of her.
