Photographer's Note
Glhane Park was the stage for other important events. The Republic痴 founder Atatrk first revealed to the public the new Latin alphabet for Turkish on September 1, 1928 in this park. When Atatrk's body was sent to Ankara, the last ceremony in Istanbul was held in the Seraglio part of Glhane Park on November 19, 1938.
The park underwent a major renovation in recent years; the removal of the fun fair and picnic grounds as well as a small zoo established in the 1950s resulted an increase in open space. The excursion routes were re-arranged and the big pool was renovated in a modern style. With concrete structures removed the park regained the natural landscape of the 1950s, revealing trees dating from the 1800s. This latest renovation must have brought in some colorful 殿rt, like the park痴 name shown in this photo. The workshop shows another example.
Arabesk Diyebilir Misiniz?
Glhane Parkı diğer nemli olaylara sahne oldu. Cumhuriyet段n kurucusu Atatrk, Trk軻 i輅n Latin alphabesini halka ilk bu parkta 1 Eyll 1928 tarihinde gsterdi.

Hi Murat, maybe a bit kitchy but nice, this one and a bit strange the picture in Workshop. Nice also the pattern behind, made from buxus maybe. I do not remember it, is it something new?

Hello Murat,
From your description it sounds as if most of the restorations have been done in very good taste, but maybe the high ambitions didn't quite last until the end. This does look a bit kitschy, and even more so what is seen in the WS, but I wouldn't entirely judge it as such without having seen it with my own eyes on the spot. What is beyond doubt is that this gave you the opportunity for very colorful photos.
Have a nice weekend.

Vivid sign announce the park name, Murat, and a lady that was posing for you is a nice bonus to the scene.
Fine gardening job done, and an excelent view through the trees.
Enjoy your weekend,
Ike

Hello Murat
I would say Kitsch in capital letters here indeed. But then isn't Kitsch a bit part of the turkish culture. At least jugging from the many turkish wedding dress stores I can see here in my hometown.
Amazing colors indeed, even the trees and grass look a bit kitschy to me.
have a great weekend

Hello Murat,
The colourful Gulhane sign may be kitschy but it is no worse than the Hollywood sign in LA or this sign in Brisbane: http://www.abc.net.au/news/image/5838656-3x2-940x627.jpg
The woman adds scale and animates the scene. Excellent sharpness and saturation. I like the spiral designs of the green topiary hedges in the bg. Nice repetition of the vertical lines provided by the myriad of trees. Tfs!
