Turkish delight, a photo from Sinop, Black Sea

Photographer's Note

After two postcards in my last upload it's time for me to reflect on what I am doing on this site.

So here are some reflections. Many TE members do them, so now it's my turn. ;-)

Today I show you three photos of what I saw in the water as I walked along a quay in the port of Sinop, a town on the Turkish Black Sea coast, in 2012. I have a feeling that they could have been paintings by real, human artists, not just the artist called Nature (in collaboration with moored boats). But I can't figure out who those artists could be. Maybe some names will come to your mind. Mir�, Rothko, Kandinsky...? Probably not.

The main photo is a composition of mainly red, white and black. Here is a larger version.

Hello Gert,

I suppose the choice is very subjective, as with all art, when it comes to deciding upon a favourite but, for me, these abstract patterns are all delightful, all I could live with and it would depend on my existing colour scheme as to which would go into which room.

I have always liked patterns, like these, and remember getting children to express their personal favourite colours in this way.

Reflections in the water create unique pieces of art, well worth our attention!

Hello Gert,
The photographer is of course the artist here. He determines whether the abstract composition is worth presenting as art.
He uses a mirror and a camera instead of a canvas and paint.
A beautiful series that you can best exhibit in your living room as modern art.
Nowadays it is even possible to have a painted version printed if you do not want to hang it on the wall as a photo or do not want to repaint it yourself.
I had probably opted for the reverse order.

Hi Gert,

The reflections on the water are assets to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the reflections. The light is making the colours to stand out. Have a nice day.

Dear Gert,

I hope that you won't do selfies in the future just because others do it! :) Joking apart, these are nice abstracts and don't get me wrong, but I like the traditional Gertian style nothing specials, mainly if taken on Kodachrome!

Of course we are all tempted to do postcards and play with reflections sometimes.

Three fantastic works of modern art, which are shaped here by nature along with the presence of some ship, but which could well be oil paintings hanging in some Museum of Modern Art, in which everything is seen, as if to run away.
Sharpness, lighting, color, and the magnificent composition; they are all perfectly realized factors, in this beautiful images.

curiously we have a sinop in amazon region, anyway it was created in the 1980's and the name is the initials of a colonization company from my region.
nice sample of abstraction in the waters.

what are you doing Gert? have you lost your mind? hahaha, just kidding of course :) Falling into the temptation of posting a water reflection shot - good on ya :) We all fall into this pleasant trap every once in a while. this is the best of the 3 you show us, and for good reason. its more dynamic, lots more going on, and I like the blue. sweet shot. cheers

I did one in Bergen harbor and Nicholas loaded one yesterday. Another fine entry in this abstract genre. The red and blue colors set off a nice warm cold color contrast here. Tfs!

Hello Gert, a different type of post from you, and what a beautiful reflection you have observed. There are some fabulous patterns within the shapes.
I also like WS#2, with an alternative set of colours and shapes.
Good title; not a great fan of the sweet, I prefer your version!

Hello Gert,

I can't remember the last time (if there actually was one) that I saw such a trio of abstract photographs from yourself but, anyway, these are superb!

You clearly had your eyes wide open as you walked along this quayside watching colourful boats and seeing their reflections in the undulations of the water - and you managed to capture the abstract beauty perfectly in these wonderfully colourful and vibrant images. I love them all!

Fabulous set of three abstract photos. Love them all and can't make up my mind which one I would use as the main upload. They are all brilliant.
I also love the title and the use of the word "reflection" to create a pun.
I know it's Nature plus the boats but you did take part in the process of art-creation by clicking the shutter button. :-)

Gert, it is an abstract shot. The red hull of a boat is reflected in Sinop port. The sun combined to the ropes, the waves, create a modern painting. Excellent observation. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.
