Photographer's Note

This photo was taken today in Haydarpasa Railway Station. It was the best time of the day for the great light conditions, and you can check the clock for the exact time of the day :)

No pp except cropping. All is light and exposure...

I hereby dedicate this photo to bostankorkulugu and inanuc, we had a nice day of photography today...

Please do not hesitate to check the workshops. There, you can see the joy of Mr. Bostankorkulugu, for having found an excellent place for taking good photos...
And the other one has the three of us (Inanuc, Rigoletto, Bostankorkulugu), backstaged by the already famous baloon in Kadikoy...

Haydarpaşa Terminal is a terminus main station of the Turkish State Railways (TCDD) in Haydarpaşa close to Kadik at the Anatolian part of Istanbul, Turkey. International, domestic and regional trains running to east- and southbound destinations depart from this major terminal which was built as the terminus of the Istanbul-Baghdad and Istanbul-Damascus-Medina railways during the final years of the Ottoman Empire. The first station there was built in 1872 when the railroad was opened to Gebze. However, as the line was extended, traffic increased and a new and larger building was needed. Its construction started in 1906 by Otto Ritter and Helmut Conu, two German architects who chose a neo-renaissance German style. Thanks to its location, it has been very well preserved, even restored following the damages caused by a burning tanker ship in 1979. The building is best seen from the sea, by taking a boat that calls just in front of the station to cross the Bosphorus.

dipnot: bu kurgu değil dediğim fotoğraflar genelde spontane olan fotolarımdır. sizin tek bir fotoğrafınız i輅n slediklerimi umarım genel bir yaklaşım olarak algılamamışsınızdır. kurgu olmayan fotoğraflar benim i輅n 輟k değerlidir. ama bu demek değildir ki insanların uzuvlarının yarım olduğu bir kare kurguyla 'muhteşem' hale getirilemez. yani teknik a�ıdan kurgunun daha iyi olmadığı anlamına gelmez, kurgu olmayanın değerli addedilmesi...

A beautiful building, great piece of architecture. The warm brown/yellow colours are perfect exposed and make a wonderful mood. Adding those few people really brings life in this perfect setup composition. a well thought shot...great work, i like this a lot.

koymadan bi sorsaydın bari... bu millet hi� benim ayaklarımın yere bastığı bir fotoğrafımı gemeyecek mi... intikam soğuk yenen bir yemektir (merve hanım da bilir!>:D), elbet acısı �ıkar bunun...

en g�zel ışığı ka�ırdım yine di mi... olsun bunun da acısı �ıkar elbet... soldaki kemeri kesseydin de bu kadar simetrik olmasaydı da hem insanlar blece daha solda olurdu da bıy bıy bıy...

at first ,i was attracted by the colours of the shot, looking like honey, By looking better and after a deep analyse i was hooked by the light, this Luxurious light which floods this photo, especially by the rays on the flor where people walk.

I suspected a higher iso for this well exposed clear shot enlightened by a late sun, a beautiful station indeed as environment to see these travellers walking to the sunbeams, good connection, one advice though Deniz, don't jump in the Durme, my dog jumped into it today, I had to wash her, what a smell !

Hello Deniz,

Excellent late afternoon view of the Haydarpasa Station interior. You show us the grand architecture of the inside and a golden lateral light : The passengers are well caught, ideally I would perhaps prefer the ones in the front slightly back.

Hi Deniz,
is this your inner mental preparation for your (hopefully) upcoming trip to Germany? Photographing lonesome travellers in search of their destination? I hope that all of them have valid visas. Very nice shot! The vast railway hall makes the people look small and adds some melancholy to your compo, but in the same moment there is the joy of travelling in the air.
It is really striking how German the Haydarpasa Railway station looks (more from outside than the interior though). When I saw it from the boat on our way to Kadik I thought that somebody beamd it to that place from Berlin or some other German City.
Your shot reminds me of a very interesting documentary I saw once about a railway trip from Tehran to Istanbul. The final destination was Haydarpasa of course. This is one more trip on my very long list of trips I intend to do one day.

Hello Deniz,

A first rate photograph of the interior of the Haydarpasa, accompanied by a superlative note. Last time i visited your fabulous gallery, I was about to critique this shot when I got sidetracked by the previous photo you submitted, namely the shadow of the mathematical mosaics (traceries) at the S�leymaniye. Now it is time for the Haydarpasa, and indeed it is a superb shot. The passengers pulling their roll-on bags are going about their busness, undeterred by the photographer recording the event.

Clocks and train stations... I really have to do a theme on clocks... Great exposure here Deniz. You managed to get nice detail from that window even if it is in front of a massive light source. The golden tones of the station are lovely. What a great scene you have here.
