Al Seef Dubai -Where the Old Meets the New - this is the tagline of Al Seef Dubai. There痴 an area where it痴 modern, and there痴 an area where you can see wind towers and stones which reflects back to the history of the UAE. Located near the creek area, the complex houses some of the most modern establishments like Starbucks but the exteriors of all buildings are in the typical Emirati style, providing a unique mix of the old and the modern.
I liked this part of Dubai and I went to stroll around there a few times.
One day when I was lazily walking with the camera, I saw the typical Arab couple - as you know - white and black. I quickly took a photo and then another one. The woman came to me and asked if I took a photo. Hmmm. I confessed that yes. We started to chat and then she invited me to her house for lunch. On my last day in Dubai, she waited for me at the metro station. We went by car to the house of her mother. There I met her two sisters, the brother in law and the mother. The lunch was delicious. I felt very shy. all this was so incredible. After the meal, the mother told me that an Arab custom is to give presents for the guests. I was given two abayas - typical Arab dresses- slippers, a bag and a big bag of fresh dates. Then one of the sisters went with me to the Dubai Glow and dino park. And then she took me to the airport, 30 km away from Dubai. Have anyone of you had an adventure like this?
It was an afternoon stroll, so it is a bit dark.
In Workshop another view from Al Seef and me in the new abaya and with the new Arab friend.

Hello Malgo,
I have been treated with amazing hospitality now and then, mainly in Muslim countries, but not quite at this level. So that was a great adventure, all starting with this photo which after all is a bit of "nothing special". ;-) As you know, that is a compliment when coming from me, usually meaning people in an interesting environment, like here. The architecture is quite plain but there are fine details, as in the bridge between the houses and the wind tower. I like the very harmonious colour scheme. I might have cropped the luxury boutique window, to make the street look more "untouched" and to bring the couple slightly closer.
Nice photos in the WS too. I suppose in the summer you will use the abayas regularly when going for walks in Warsaw or travelling in Europe? ;-)
Now you must start packing. Have a nice journey.

Hello Malgo, an interesting story about your adventures and encounters. You were very fortunate.
Three good shots from Dubai.
I like the w/s shot where we can clearly see the style of building construction.
The inclusion of the illuminated shop window provides a contrast with the traditional style buildings.
Kind regards, Jean.

Ciao Malgo.Something similar happened to me in Scotland many years ago, where I met an elderly lady while we were visiting the ruins of a castle. He took us to his house with his car, offering us the making us listen to his daughter playing the violin. You were really luckier, with lunch and gifts! The photo in the WS of you two is very elegant, the other two that show this mix of old and new are also very beautiful. Regarding my photo you saw well, the girl lying on the ground is a friend of mine who was looking for particular perspective. The coronavirus situation is making everyone nervous, the schools still closed for the next week and also stadiums and churches. Many airlines have closed flights to Italy, who knows when I can take a new vacation. All the best for your next, stay safe and enjoy! Luciano

Hi dear Malgo
I think this is a typical Middle East image. Emirates seems to be so modren image but I remind that this country still belongs to Middle East countries. So clear and sharp image as usual.
All the best and have a good day! Takero

Dear Malgo,
Another topclass capture/entry in your gallery with a great story.
Photograpycally it's perfect but more than this your notes !
It's just amazing.
It reminded me to my father who was a Professor of nuclear physics and used allways to say : "Our tongue is a more effective and dangerous weapon. According, how you use it, it can heal the heavist wounds but on the other hand, depending how you use it, it can be a perfect healing insturment.
And this is exacyly what you've done in Dubai !
TFS and have a nice weekend

Hi Malgorzata
A nice capture of a local street scene showing both bit of new and dominating old buildings in Arab atmosphere! I love your composition I am wondering looking deep into the alley letting the two figs guides me in. The glowing colour of the modern shop gives a nice break of contrasting colour that speak volumes and you have done a wonderful work capturing it. A delightful scene in low light with loads of good colours, detail and content. Well done
Best regards

You easily make friends, Malgo, cheers for that - interesting story and a photo that shows old Dubai which we would never know.
Great stuff, this would be the essence of traveling and meeting local people.
Have a nice new day,
Ike

Hello Malgo,
Looks like the Dubai version of the Venetian Bridge of Sighs, but of course there is not much water in these arid parts. You were lucky to meet such nice people. Tfs!

Hello Malgo,
What a lovely story! I would believe it. I taught at the U.A.E. University for a semester and the Dean of Students lent me his car for the whole time! This looks like a beautiful neighborhood. 👍🏻👍🏻

PS. Thanks for the words of welcome. I was away from TE mainly because distance teaching took much more time than conventional teaching.

Hello, the architecture is made of both new and old buildings. The luxury shops contrast with the traditional clothes. I like the beautiful footbridge. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.
