In Dubai souk, a photo from Dubai, West

I go back to the Middle East and my last year journeys.

Here three pictures from the Dubai souk. I threw dice on what to choose as the main upload. Observe the clothes of the guys. Even in India nowadays the men are often dressed in Western-style. Here as you can see the guys have very strange trousers and shirts in different pastel colours. It is a common view in the old parts of Dubai. I asked one guy where he was from and he was Pakistani. Maybe they are from Afganistan or Bangladesh?

UAE population: 72% male (it means only 28% women).. Total expat population - 88% (so only 12% Emirati).

My hotel was near the big souks so I went there quite often. The display of spices was the best compared with Iran or Oman.

Hello Malgo,

I was not surprised that Pakistan was the birthplace of the men, dressed in this way. WE have quite a large Pakistani group living in Lancashire and many, particularly the older men, still dress like this.

It was a tough decision on which to post as the main shot but, no worries, because the w/s allow us to see them all.
This is a fine series to show the character of the area and the people that live there.It looks busy, with a wide range of commodities on sale.

From your w/s, obviously the task of taking selfies is very serious!

Hello, a shot snatched at the market. The men are going about their business. The shop offers fabrics, clothes and fruits. A lively atmosphere. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

I like all these photos and it would have been hard for anyone to decide which one to choose. I think I agree that this is the most interesting one, thanks to the crowd, the well handled indoors light and the colourful items in the background.
I bought two ready-made shirts in Afghanistan and had another two tailor-made in southern India during my early long journey. They were basically this style, but maybe not quite as long. They were very comfortable, but I wore ordinary jeans underneath.

Zanim jeszcze przeczytalam twoja notke, patrzac na te stroje pomyslalam sobie ze pochodza one z Pakistanu, Afganistanu, lub Bangladeszu. :-) Ludzie migruja calymi grupami, wiec zachowuja kulture ze swoich krajow. Podobnie jak na calym swiecie, migranci zarobkowi to glownie mezczyzni, stad ten maly odsetek kobiet.
Fajna seria zdjec, ja tez mialabym klopoty z wyborem ktore przeznaczyc na glowne. Moze to "selfie" ze wzgledu na piekny turkusowy kolor? Ale tutaj znowu super atmosfera bazaru, ciemna tonacja, swietnie uchwycona scena grupowa... Kostka do gry to bardzo przydatny sprzet fotograficzny. ;-)

Hello Malgo, looking at all three pictures, there is not one woman in sight, having read your notes, I guess that they must all be at home! So many stalls and shops but no-one seems to be buying.
You present us with a very good impression of the souk.
The picture with the two men making a selfie would have been an alternative main post.

most of guys using such shirts are from pakistan, I know this because a girl who works with me have thousands of friends there and most of them use this shirt.
nice view with the place filled with men, typical of muslin countries. courageous polish girl!
