Photographer's Note
Location: Little Norway Park, Toronto, Ontario
Artists: Cosmic Maypole II was designed by Georganna Malloff (b1936) Canadian artist, and carved in 1980-81 by a group of young artists known as the the Ne Chi Zu Guild of woodcarvers and artists.
Notes: The 18 m tall pole was a 700 year old cedar tree in British Columbia before it was brought to Toronto. The carved images of animals, people and cities are integrated by twelve dreaming whales, hence the pole is also known as the "Dreamwork of Whales"
That first Cosmic Maypole stands in the civic center of New Westminster, British Columbia.
Two other views are in the Workshop.
