Photographer's Note

The stillness of Pitt Lake is almost palpable as early morning sun breaks through the mist. This lake is the largest tidal freshwater body of water in Canada, and as such is hazardous for small boats. North of the lake a river flows from the heart of rugged wilderness and is navigable for some ten miles.

Hola John.
Nice picture with a great depth sense, a quite place, good delicate colors and very good composition. I don't know what this pole is doing in the middle of the lake and it doesn't look like a boat reflection.

Hi John,
You took a vertical picture with a 1/2 division, in depth misty atmosphere together with wrinkles in water gives a nice composition, also the wood in foreground make the picture lovely.

Nice shot John,

Really sharp detail, I can almost count the individual trees on the shore across the lake. Even thought is does have that 'neat image' feel to it, it's maintained a lot of detail.
My only suggestion would a slight clockwise rotation to correct the horizon. A small point on an otherwise lovely shot.

Great shot. You have really captured that special moment, as you say just as morning has broken. I love your compo, good use of the driftwood on the shore, and the textures with the differing light both on the bluffs and across the water add great atmosphere. TFS. Firstly, I like the portrait format as it seems to concentrate the attention more on the scene. The use of the logs and wood add good foreground interest. You have done well to capture the moody atmosphere in the mountains too. Good ripples on the water add some graphic interest to the shot as well. You have captured a great deal of detail in this single shot. Well achieved.

Beautiful early morning shot, John. That mist gives a really evocative air to the scene - so still and tranquil. Excellent composition with the diagonal of the shore in the foreground and the bleached pieces of driftwood.

Hi John. My eyes seem drawn to the mountains far off in the distance. I might have tried a burn tool across the bright area of the sky to even it out. But the rippled reflections are always a great addition. Superb shot John!

I like all the layers you have managed to fit into the shot by using a vertical format. The misty mountains and the wonderful rippled reflection are what most catches my eye. A well worked composition.

John I gather from this photo and others posted from this same area that Pitt Lake is one of your favorites. Incredible lighting captured with interesting highlights on the mountian across the lake. Good choice to shoot this in vertical format for the shoreline and sky above brings a nice balance in thirds. Good work John!

Very good composition here with the dead tree in foreground and the calm water attracting the eye. The sky with its clouds is very fascinating too. Good colours, perspective and defintion.
