This is one where I'm digging a bit into my older galleries. I took this back in Feb 2010.
As most of you know i'm a big fan of the Blue hour, combine that with our Iconic Art Deco Burrard Street Bridge and some funky art work...its a scene I had to shoot.
This ME sculpture was popular on TE years back...I guess it surfaced and alot of people were photographing it. It's pretty cool, its in the shape of a human, but its figure is held together by letters of the alphabet.
You may also see some Asian characters in the mix as well, but it's mostly english letters.
I'll post a closer shot in the WS to show you what I mean.

Hello Craig,
I guess Jaume Plensa is the artist. I saw his work 'El alma del Ebro' in Zaragoza and it looks very similar to me.
Wonderfully presented here in its setting by the river and during the fascinating blue hour.
The silhouette of the large tree nicely separates the artwork from the bridge and the water.
Is it still so terribly hot in Western Canada?
Best regards, Paul

Hi Craig,
The sculpture is well placed in the frame. The point of view is showing the details of the sculture and of the bridge. The bblue hour light has a special effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Craig,
Great shot! The artist is definitely Jaume Plensa; I recently posted a photo with his art, too. The blue hour sky is beautiful, and there is a nice balance between the figure and the bridge. How are you holding up during the terrible heatwave? Take care!

Hi Craig
Has that massive heatwave hit Vancouver as well - I would assume that it has?
A superb pair of photos in the large views. The lighting combined with blue hour has brought up the sculpture spectacularly.
cheers

Hello Craig,
A good composition of illuminated sculpture and illuminated bridge balancing each other well on each side of the silhouette of the large tree. To me it's mainly the well placed statue that creates a good blue hour atmosphere.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Craig,
A wonderful blue hour photo with the large tree in the middle and the bridge (which I of course recognise) and the sculpture on either side. The latter is nicely illuminated as well. Very good shot.
Lars
PS - what was the heat wave like in Vancouver? Was it as bad as in other parts of the Pacific Northwest or did the ocean manage to lower the temperatures a bit?

Hi Craig
My condolences for the almost 500 people that succumbed to the recent heat in BC. Australians know all too well the effects of high heat, drought and wildfires. Brenda recently posted a trio of alphabet spheres by the same artist. Good sharpness and the dark tree adds graphism. I saw a skunk running around in this park not far from where this was taken. Tfs!

Hello Craig,
This is an excellent blue hour photograph!
I like the composition, too, where the spooky statue creates a very good link with the illuminated bridge and reflections, in the b/g.
The statue is a very original idea but still feels a little creepy, with some missing facial details and it appears to be cradling a head!
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hi Craig
Perfect timing for this blue hour shot. This time of the day doesn't last all night and it takes some skill to know when to capture it. The yellow light on the sculpture matches the lights on the bridge which makes for not just great background but also another special point of focus.
It's amazing what treasures people can dig out if they look through photos from long time ago that they didn't do anything with at the time!
Best wishes
Kasia
PS. Been meaning to tell you - I eventually got to watch Justice League and clearly recognised "your" shipwreck from Djupavik in the 11th minute or so. :-)

Hi Craig.
My congratulations for those 11 years in TE, I have 4 more. In all this time you have delighted us with your fantastic compositions, such as this precious view at the blue hour with the illuminated bridge and part of the city behind, the trees starring in a sensational backlight and the right hand well completed with that original sculpture, which with its color gives a touch of light.
Good perspective of the image, very pleasing to the eye.
Colorful, sharpness and luminosity are captured effectively.
Very good composition, magnificent presentation.
Have a good weekend.
Warm greetings.
Luis.
