HAPPY NEW YEAR

I start my TE year with an "old barn" post in keeping with one of my photo subject interests. I am interested in agricultural history and am always intrigued by these stately reminders of the past. Good to see the old farm buildings who looks the similar in eastern townships. Like the small vents on top and angular roof. The sparkling snow give a good scene of winter serenity

Hello Gerald ... and happy new year!!! Yes this is when the world has come to a well-deserved rest, when you hide inside and never want to come out again. Wonderful winter scene, beautiful barn, those we have to KEEP for future generations and not let them fall apart. The barn reminds me a lot of Vermont, many of those there but also falling apart, every time we return there is one less. Best regards, Barbara.

A fitting start for the new year. I love the tiny bits of colour in an otherwise monochrome shot. This is one time when a blah grey sky works well in an image. Nicely done. Happy New Year.

Lovely snowy winter image of the old barn. Without the subtle touches of colour on the barn I would have thought this to be a B&W image. Nicely composed with the barn 'looking into' the picture and the snow-laden tree filling in the space.

Wow!! It makes me shiver just to look at this old barn in the cold, grey light. I especially like the airy grace of the bare trees and the untracked snow. Hopefully the snow will pick up before the Olympics!!

Oooh, this looks wonderful, it cound as well be in black and white, but that little bit of colors give us the idea of the way the snow and clouds make the rest of the landscape into this gray scale. I really love it. Great composition and well ballance light. A classic it is.

the old barn is still standing, but one might wonder for how long?
The lack of maintenance is clear, and the almost black and white appearance in the low winter light fits the subject well...

Hello Gerald,

I like a lot the winter scene and this photo is in line (except the architectur of the barn of course) with what we can experiment in the Alps.
Nice exposure to get a white snow (and not grey) and a quite monochrom photo.

Hi Gerald, long time no speak!

Appologies for not stopping by more often. Really tied up with alot of things and sadly don't have the time to critique I used to.

I really like these winter scenes in conjunction with the weathered old barn. Sharp detail and a nice compo (I like the balance the tree on the left brings to the shot). Considering the lack of color in the scene, I might have been tempted to convert the whole scene to B&W?
