Photo caught in a ride at Saint-Alexis des Monts in Mauricie. This is a Old Sugar Shack.

A maple syrup production farm is called a sugarbush,sugarhouse or the sugarwoods. Sap is boiled in a "sugar shanty", "sugar shack", "sugarhouse" or "cabane � sucre", a building which is louvered at the top to vent the steam from the boiling maple sap.
Maple syrup comes from eastern Canada, particularly Qu饕ec, Ontario, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick, and the northern United States, especially New England, New York State and the Great Lakes states. However, given the correct weather conditions, it can be made wherever maple trees grow. (WikiPediA)

Hello Michel - I am no stranger to delicious maple syrup but have not heard the term sugar shack so this shot is, for me, both beautiful and interesting (with a good note). I wonder, are the stacked logs waiting to be used to create the heat for the boiling process? Your composition is good, from the roof we can see the depth of snow that has fallen giving the woodland that wonderful pristine winter look. Warm regards rosemary

Bonjour Michel,

Une tr鑚 belle sc鈩e hivernale avec cette cabane � sucre toute enneig馥. Le jeu d'ombre et de lumi鑽e est int駻essant et l'image est tr鑚 claire. Le bois est empil� et on semble bien pr黎 pour faire bouillir lorsque la s騅e coulera.

Les arbres cadrent bien la cabane. La prise de vue permet de voir les d騁ails et les couleurs de la cabane � sucre. La r馭lexion de la lumi鑽e sur la neige met en valeur la beaut� des couleurs. Bon dimanche.

Bonjour Michel,

Elle est presque pr黎e � servir cette belle cabane � sucre, avec le beau temps et le d馮el, elle perdra son beau chapeau de neige et des pas nombreux saliront cette neige immacul馥 qui l'entoure.

I like the reflected blue sky & clouds in the fg window. A fantastic angled pov on the log cabin with good sharpness & punchy light contrasts yet with negligible oe in the snow highlights or loss of detail in the dark shadows. Bon Dimanche!

Voil� une photo qui 騅oque bien notre patrimoine!

Cette cabane � sucre est particuli鑽ement attrayante et authentique. Selon ce que j'ai entendu � la radio, ce n'騁ait pas l'ann馥 id饌le pour la production ac駻icole d� aux vagues de chaleur h穰ive, mais cette photo nous fait n饌nmoins croire tout le contraire. Avec toute cette neige, l'endroit semble si pittoresque et invitant!

Une photo de cabane � sucre comme je n'en ai pas vu souvent, bien compos馥 et sous une belle lumi鑽e.

Your picture is sweet like maple syrup. Canada is famous for their delicious maple syrups.

Hello Michel,

Sensational image, very clear and realistic.
I can see why all the timber is stored in this building, the temperatures must drop to very formidable lows. I have never seen in person this much snow on the roof of a house. Looks very unique and cosy. TFS.
