Giacometti and Guggenheim
August 6, 2018, Lars and I visited the Guggenheim Museum in New York for the second time. Although the building is one of the top works by Frank Lloyd Wright, this museum is certainly not one of my favourites.
Our experience in 2013 corresponds to what Gert and Malgo wrote about the museum.
Beautiful building, moderate exhibitions that made poor use of the architecture of the building. Unfriendly staff and the worst for TE members: Photography prohibited !
But.
A lot seems to have changed since then.
The building is still just as beautiful, but the spaces around the atrium were excellent used for the impressive Giacometti exhibition and the other exhibitions were also interesting. The staff was friendlier and most important for TE members: Photography allowed !
Three photos in this presentation that show the coexistence of art, building and public.
The order is from close to far. Maybe the 2nd photo is the most attractive but the order of zooming out was leading for the sequence.

Hello Rob,
It's nice to hear that this museum has improved in various ways. This time you were lucky to see an interesting exhibition. In all three photos you managed a combination of art, architecture and people in a perfect harmony. The main photo also has a very good balance between warm and cold tones. I like all three photos but the main one has the closest focus and most distinct composition.
Best regards,
Gert

Groetjes & bedankt
Benny

Hi Rob,
You have captured well the concentration of the people at the museum. I like the paly between the ligted and shadowed area. There is a good contrast between the colours of the picture. Have a nice day.

hello Rob,

Hello Dear Rob,
I wonder if critiques of the museum on TE had been relayed to the staff at the museum! Negative feedback often has a positive effect!
Anyway, I like this series. I like how we move from the general to the more particular. The design of the interior of the museum works well for this trio of photographs.
I'm sure you went into the City of Liverpool Museum; did you find any similarities with this?
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Rob,
This is another nice trio from the Guggenheim. I personally like the 33 mm view the best. The main photo is also appealing, but in the WS we can see more of the curves. It was a good idea to take the same view from different focal lengths.

Hello Rob
All three photos are well framed with geometry and contrast adding to the visual appeal. The silhouetted figures of the visitors as well as the artifacts stand out against the back lit background. Very well observed and presented.
Cheers!

Bonjour, cher Rob,
Merci pour ce partage appr馗i.

Dag Rob,
Goed foto werk, bedankt.

Hello Rob, How great that now the photos are allowed and we can see your splendid compositions. I do not remember that the staff was unfriendly. interesting idea to show a similar view but with different focal length. I had an idea to show in the Flame Towers in a different light. Beautiful all three pictures, difficult to choose what I like most. Nice silhouettes of the people and sculptures. The spiral structure of the museum works very well here.
Kind regards Malgo

Hello, Rob!
The silhouettes of the people against this orange wall look great, and I like this diagonal stripe showing the scene, a very nice framing you chose! Beautiful colors! Wonderful composition!

Hi Lars,
I like the silhouettes of the people and statues nicely sandwiched between the fg blue grey panels and the warm orange colour also adds a good warm cold colour contrast. Tfs!

Hello Rob,
all three shots are, as always, well composed, where you make good use of the distinctive lines of the architecture.
I particularly like Picture 2, where we see more people and more sculptures. The severe lines of Giacometti's work contrasting with the softer lines of real people.
I like the comparisons that we can make by your use of the different focal lengths.
Kind regards
Jean

Complimenti, eccellente risultato.
