Bowery
It is high time for some photos from our second TE-meeting with Brenda in New York.
As you could have seen in the pictures of Lars, our joint walk was dominated by the many graffiti in this New York neighbourhood.
But before posting my impressions of the wild street art, first another aspect of the Bowery.
Two photos showing how the youth from this neighborhood are enthusiastic working on refurbishing benches along Sara D Roosevelt Park and the Chrystie Street.
The third photo shows how our unrivalled guide Brenda cools off in the water spray in the park.

Dag Rob,
De dames zijn geconcentreerd aan het werk. Dat heb je goed vastgelegd. In eerste instantie dacht ik dat ze aan het picknicken waren achter in plaats van op de bank.
Groet, Gerrit

Hello Rob,
At first I couldn't see what they were doing. A new kind of work-out? It's a nice initiative to make the neighborhood look better. Maybe it will also help people get to know each other better. Three fine street photos of a kind we don't see often from New York. It's also nice to see our friend Brenda, lover of street art, enjoying what really looks like a kind of public art that happens to be spraying water.
I guess you and Lars will soon leave for your annual journey to North America?
Best regards,
Gert

Hi dear Rob
Very interesting and some funny shot from you.
Thier seriousness is nice but the seat or carpet on the ground is very roughy adjusted and a sitting lady is clearly overweight, hahaha. There are so many smiling pointd spreaded by your nice strategy, Great shot!
All the best and have a good day! Takero

Hallo Rob,

Hello Rob,
What an interesting photograph and not that common on TE.
There is lots of voluntary work undertaken for the benefit of neighbourhoods and without doubt, for the benefit of the volunteers. (Our village shop, flower baskets, parks and street furniture are all maintained by volunteers. It initiates co-operation, friendship and great neighbourhood spirit.)
I like the details of how they are preventing paint splashes on the pavement and not one of them is covered in paint! I wonder if they litter pick after they have finished!
AS always, your photographs are beautifully composed and sharply detailed.
N.Y. is the only place that I have ever been to that had sprays, like that around the city; there were also water fountains everywhere, too, (Mind you, it was in the middle of heatwave!) Well done Brenda!
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hi Rob,
You have captured well the women painting the bench. The point of view is showing the details of the park bench. The light is enhancing the colours. Have a nice day.

Dag Rob,

Dear Rob,
Photographing people's every-day life is something I appreciate and do myself. A nice glimpse, not just this, but all the others.

HI Rob,2 interesting pics another time, this time dedicated to the artists walking on the benches, and i think free,so this is a great thing. But the main show is made by the pic of Brenda, she reminds a lot Mary Poppins ready to fly..ehhee..lovely post well done as usual! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Rob, it's a good initiative to refurbish the public benches. Paper has been placed around the benches to not get the ground dirty. They will have a new life after being painted again. Pleasant daily life shot

Hello Rob,
This trio of photos really made me smile. :-) I was surprised that you posted these photos of the volunteers painting the benches. It's a detail that others might overlook, but I remember you stopping to photograph them. It was especially hot that day, so their work was not easy. Maybe they eventually cooled off in the same water that I was enjoying in the WS photo. :-)

Hello Rob, these shots could be a form of a tribute to volunteers.
An interesting subject that deserves some attention.
Excellent sharpness and taken in a well managed light.

Hello Rob
Three wonderful candid photographs of these youngsters involved in voluntary work. Very spontaneous with excellent photo qualities. In the WS picture the lady clearly enjoying herself with sprays of water from all sides.
Cheers!

Hello Rob,
A superb daily life scene of the2 benches being repainted. Good sharpness, color, framing and saturation. The benches do not have much of a view with all the trash and the forbidding wire fence, but that's not your fault. Tfs!

Nice to see those youngsters caring for their neiborhood, Rob, not something I witnessed back in the 70th, while NYC had gone through a rough era.

Hi Rob
its always fun when you can include a TE member in one of the WS photos! I like Gert's comment about perhaps it will also bring the people closer together as well, that's a good point. By taping down paper on the stone around the benches it also shows how much the people care to make sure they don't spill any paint. its actually quite impressive by the locals here. Good reportage type shot. cheers

Ciao Rob
lodevole l'impegno di questi ragazzi nel sistemare le vecchie panchine, dovrebbero essere presi da esempio da tutto il mondo.
Piacevole sistema per rinfrescarsi, Brenda si sar sentita molto meglio dopo.
