After the Snow Storm, a photo from ニューヨーク, 北東部

Photographer's Note

Everyone knows the big snow storm that crippled the Big Apple in December during the holiday season. Once the snow stopped, the activities resumed. I decided to go to NYC on 28th evening. There were lots of people and many of them were tourists. The snow had piled up on the side walks. The street corners were flooded with melting snow. There were puddles and puddles of water. In spite of this messy condition, people were walking , shopping and simply enjoying the city.

This was taken on 5th avenue.

Hello Lakshmi,

This is a good presentation of Ney-York after the storm. The city gets back on it's feet. Lot's of details in this very sharp image. Here in Quebec, such a snow fall is juts a minor disturbance.

In great contrast to your previous picture on the beach, I see grand cold NY was 2 years ago, Lakshmi.
Snow accumulate on sides, yet people never gave-up shopping on 5th Ave...

Hi Lakshmi,
this scene of the streets of Manhattan covered by the snow is spectacular, in this case the 5th Avenue shows us an unusual aspect, but still it keeps the vital atmosphere of the people who walks or who buys.
A good night capture, with a good exposure.

Excellent sharpness & I can now see what Kim Carnes was singing about with the line 'pure as NY snow'. Superb light contrasts with good color & tonal range. The bow tie at left adds a nice graphic elememt. Tfs!

Hello Dear Lakshmi!

I remember well the day I left NYC for good. There was a snowstorm on its way. It was a very cold day in late December. I packed my car and headed down towards the south. Behind me was a snowstorm. This photo reminded me of this day. The store decorations and the snowy scene go together very nicely. The type of bus in the photo and the atmosphere of 5th avenue, the provided view is packed with a very nice image of NYC in the middle of the winter. I didn稚 have much to do with 5th avenue and its lifestyle then, as I was only a student. The beautifully exposed photo with its very nice image of NYC after a snowstorm is well presented. The interiors of the luxury shops are also nicely seen. Now that I am no longer in the city I wished that I could have spent more time there. The photo makes me nostalgic. Ah� those were the days.

I liked the lights, shapes and details of this nocturn view. it has movement , beauty and rhythm. yes, after the snow the dirty ice isn't a good detail. nice compo.
