Photographer's Note
There are some spots in Manhattan that are easily missed, but once I learned about Freeman Alley on the Lower East Side several years ago, I was hooked. Now I go back every few weeks to admire the large amount of urban art.
Freeman Alley, which is right off Bowery Street, is mostly filled with wheatpaste art and stickers of all kinds, as well as some traditional street art. There are strings of small lights hanging overhead, and at the very end there痴 a restaurant named Freemans. I致e never eaten there, but it has a charming front door.
You can spend quite a while looking at all the small, hidden messages, and sometimes provocative art, and it痴 always changing and evolving.
A canopy in front of the restaurant created some nice shadows. This is a view at the end of the alley.
On a side note, I'm sorry I haven稚 posted much lately. I haven稚 been able to take many new photos recently, but I知 still here. Take care everyone! :-)

Hello Brenda,
This doesn't look like a gritty alley on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, rather more like the porch of an avantgarde art gallery in a nice park. It's a very surprising view, and it makes me interested in coming here. I found this street on the Google map, where it doesn't look as sunny and charming. I might even hesitate to get in there if I found it by accident. The painting to the left might be a message of "hope" to everyone in this dark age. Thinking of that I feel cheered up by this photo.
Thank you so much for visiting my gallery again.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Brenda, the place is truly unique, a mix of art, colors and geometric shadows that lead to the entrance of the restaurant. I would like to know the cuisine that is practiced here, surely there will be something original, as is its entrance. Excellent composition captured at the perfect moment with the ideal light. Have a nice weekend,Luciano

Hello Brenda,
This isn't very far from the place where we met in 2019.
I don't have the impression of being in the big city looking at your picture. More like a kind of oasis in the big city.
The rainbow colours and the large 'Hope' text indicate an optimistic view.
In the news, I learned that the vaccination programme in the US is progressing very quickly. It is indeed possible to look a bit more optimistically to the future. What a world of difference compared to a few months ago!
Kind regards, Paul

Hello Brenda,
I like the repetitive square patterns formed by the shadows of the awning. Good color, sharpness and framing. The artwork at left is a bonus. Tfs!

It is an unusual place to sopt in the city, Brenda.
having saif that, it really looks as rural town corner.
Vividly presented, charming doorstep for this restaurant.
Found Freeman Alley on the map, taken a virtual tour around this graffiti-alley at 40.72143, -73.9927 on the Google-Map.

Hi Brenda
Good to see you managing even the occasional photo. A good one of this corner of NY and that sign of hope is what we all still need at present.

Dear Brenda,
At first I thought it was some terrace with some stunning atmosphere at a private house. I like it anyway and not surprised that you are fond of it.
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Hello Brenda, an unexpected end to the alley, and I would never have expected this to be New York!
I like your composition with the colourful artwork to the side, with good shadows from the overhead roofing.
Lots of details to enjoy.
Don稚 apologise for not posting often, just keep safe.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Brenda,
A very nice view of the alley with the wooden canopy and its attractive pattern of shadows. The brightly coloured art on the wall looks great too, just as the light blue door in the background.

looks like an interesting find, a colourful alley. I know a few places in London where the street art is constantly changing. Th bold HOPE meesage certainly attracts the eye.

Hello Brenda,
First, let me say how much I enjoyed studying your latest TE photograph. It colourful, it is welcoming. it has fine composition and, I just loved the reticulated pattern of the shadows.
I had to research 'wheatpaste art', I had never come across the term before, which is surprising considering how long this technique has been in operation! Never mind, I do love to learn new things.
Keep safe, Bev :-)
When the threat of Covid subsides, maybe you will be able to report back on the quality of the food in this establishment.

Hi Brenda,
I like this corner too. Details look quite spontaneous. The canopy is simple and somewhat warped. And urban art shows free spirit, although it is not exactly to my taste.

Hi Brenda
great to see you :)
in response to your comment to Gert...I don't think he travels anymore, sadly. I'd like to meet up with you guys in NY too.
I've never seen this place in person, another spot to explore, but for locals too. I need to write all these places down that you have showed us haha. great TE post
cheers

Hi Brenda,
fantastic spot, so colorful and photogenic. Who would have thought this is in Manhattan.
This reminds me times when I lived in LA. LA has quite a bad reputation as a boring city and indeed many people don't have time to explore lovely numerous spots which are not even mentioned in guidebooks and are just known to locals.
Great scene here, I like the great sunshine with some nice play of the light and shadow and vibrant colors.
Excellent work,
M

Hello Brenda, I have made a virtual walk there and this place looks much more beautiful in your picture than in Google reality. I suppose that the murals change often, here it is very colourful and with the rainbow heart and hope it arouses positive feelings. You had also wonderful light. Nice shadows of the pergola on the ground.
Best regards
MAlgo
