Photographer's Note

Here is one last photo from my visit to the World Trade Center site last October. It痴 a small section of the base of One World Trade Center, also known as the Freedom Tower.

In my previous post, I wrote that One WTC has 104 floors, and it reaches a height of 1,776 feet (541.3 meters), making it the tallest building in North America. The first 185 feet (56 meters) of this massive tower is a windowless, concrete base. It was designed that way for safety reasons. The base is covered in glass pieces attached to stainless steel panels. LED lights behind the panels illuminate the base. From the 20th floor upwards, the square edges of the tower痴 base cut away, shaping the building into eight, tall, thin triangles.

This is a view of the side entrance; the security guard was directing tourists to the front entrance where they could buy tickets for the observation deck. People kept coming in and out of the frame, so I chose the photo that was the least cluttered. You can see the bright colors of the LED lights, and some reflections of other building on the site.

On a side note, COVID numbers exploded here in NY the past few weeks, so I haven't taken new photos in a while. Hopefully I'll be able to get out again soon...

The Freedom Tower building is impressive, the reflections in the glass fa軋de are impressive.

Hello Brenda,
This is a very unusual picture of the base of One World Trade Center.
I could never have guessed which Manhattan building this was.
Excellently cropped. Wonderful with the different coloured surfaces.
There are also many new infections in Belgium, more than there have ever been. So far, the situation in intensive care remains manageable. Hopefully it doesn't get any worse.

Ciao Brenda,Unfortunately, even here Covid has exploded again, practically almost everyone has taken it, even if thanks to vaccines, the hospitals are not full and the deaths are not those of last year. I am very jealous of your photo opportunities to capture photos like these, my country and my last trips to Italy do not offer large buildings to play with geometry and reflections, still a great photo of the side entrance and an imposing and winning perspective. Hello Brenda, Amazing information about WRC, So, there is an observation deck there? Interesting composition with many vertical straight lines. Interesting colours.
Also in Poland, Covid numbers exploded.

Hello Brenda,
An intriguing glass and steel facade for any photographer.
The reflection upon the green hue is a bit obsecured by the cloudy sky - but overall the resolution is fine with good scale by the people at the entrance.

Unless the title hadn't revealed it, I would have found it hard to identify this from the thumbnail. The play of colors, light, shapes made me think of a precious stone. It's a marvelous building, as evident also from the WS, and this is a nicely cropped photo. As usual the persons included are quite important, regardless if we prefer to see them for their human presence or as indicators of dimensions.

Hello Brenda,

It is interesting to see the size and scope of entire building in your w/s but, I agree with you, this is a a more artistic work, created by your well judged crop. The vertical coloured lines and star-like connections are very modern accents and then nature steps in with little sections of reflected sky and clouds.

Great archtictural shot, Brenda. Good light, shapes and reflections. Perhaps a pity you've cut off the feet of the people in the left corner, as they play an important role in the composition. Cheers & tfs!

9/11 was an act of pure evil. It achieved nothing except galvanizing Americans against tyranny. I like the human figures below and the stripes of colour: green, magenta, purple and blue. Tfs!

Excellent photo of this majestic architecture. Great idea to crop tight and show just a section of this massive tower. The image is almost abstract with all the eye-catching lines and a mixture of lovely colours. The people at the bottom are well placed to give a sense of scale. I especially like the man wearing a black suit, he goes well with the futuristic design of the building.
Thank you for the complimentary image also, it gives us a good idea of what we see in the main shot.
Hope the new Covid wave doesn't last long.

A wonderful composition, with this zoom that shows us a closed plane on a small surface of this iconic building, a nice effect of reflections and colors, the composition of the WS is fabulous with the building that seems to sail towards the sky, very well framed with the trees
