Photographer's Note
I致e been wanting to post a photo to show support for the people of Ukraine this past week, but I didn稚 think I had anything suitable in my archives. Then I remembered a walk in the East Village area of Manhattan several years ago.
There is a large Ukrainian population in some areas of NYC, including in the East Village, and "Veselka" (rainbow in Ukrainian) has been a popular eatery there for many decades. It was founded in 1954, and this past week people have been lining up to eat there and show support for Ukraine.
This photo is not the best, but I do like the contrast of the people eating outside, and the ones painted on the fa軋de. Some tenement buildings are reflected in the windows, too.
My heart breaks as I watch the news, and it also makes me angry. There is no reason for so much suffering and destruction. I can only naively hope that it will end sooner rather than later
No points please...

Hello Brenda,
This is definitely good enough for any post on TE, and the knowledge of its Ukrainian connection makes it very suitable. There is a very good connection between the painted figures and the real ones. The reflections provide further good details.
Kind regards,
Gert

Ciao Brenda, it is nice to see your support for the Ukrainian cause even if you live far away and the problem may not interest you so strongly. A good memory led you to find this archive photo with a Ukrainian theme, I'm glad to know that people came to eat here as a form of support, and the photo is very beautiful and rich. Thanks for your contribution and have a nice weekend! Luciano

Hello Brenda,
It's a very beautiful picture with the view of the people sitting at the tables inside next to the painted scene of the people on the wall outside.
People with Ukrainian roots seek each other's company in these difficult times to discuss the dramatic events and see if they can contribute something themselves to the needy in the ravaged country.
Who would have ever thought that in this century a country would attack and slaughter its brother people like this? I certainly don't.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Brenda,
Quite nice mural with variety of characters. And there are many real customers inside too. This placed has surprisingly long history, I see.

Hello Brenda,
An excellent photo to show your support for Ukraine with this little bit of the country's culture in New York. I really like both the wall painting and the reflections in the windows mixed with the people inside.

Hello Brenda,
My heart breaks when I read the news too. Also, I meet people who have families in Ukraina and are very worried about them. Many Ukrainians come to Poland as refugees, but there are also men who leave the job here and go to Ukraine to fight.
So there is no way not no think about the tragedy. Every sign of support is important. Some actions are rather amusing, like the boycott of the "ruskie pierogi" in Poland. Nice picture.

Hello Brenda,
Like you, I felt great support for the Ukrainian people yet had nothing in the way of photographs to post.
In the end, I used objects of the right colour for their flag and showed my solidarity that way.
This photograph is probably much better than mine!
Keep safe,
Bev :-)

Hello Brenda, I like this shot precisely for the reason that you took it.
The window is particularly interesting with the customers that we see inside coupled with the reflections from the buildings from across the road.
The artwork is in a distinctive style.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hi Brenda,
I see this was the first of your presentations of this lovely cafe.
Unfortunately, contrary to your hopes expressed in the note the war still drags on. It is cruel, it is terrible yet in the end I do believe the Ukrainian people fight this war for all of us for our freedom too. It is so complicated, I actually work in my new project with a Russian, it must be so difficult for him and his family to live in the west. But it is what it is, I am not going to hide my support for Ukraine to avoid hurting his feelings.
The war is so much unneccessary, having so many resources all Russians could be the richest nation inthe world but they choose the attachment to some sentiments of power. Certainly very different priorities in which the value of human life (even their own) and its quality seems to be not important at all.
I keep praying for peace, but frankly I also pray for the Ukraine to win as much as one can use this word after so much terror and destruction going on.
