Photographer's Note
I have been to Turkey and back during these COVID times. Before I start posting pictures from that trip, I have one more graduation to share with you. May 14 was the commencement ceremony for my older son down at Liberty University in Virginia. Due to the uncertainties during the pandemic, it was on-again, off-again, so by the time we booked the hotel for it, most of the rooms in Lynchburg were gone. Therefore, my wife booked a hotel in Lexington, which happened to be on historic property.
According to Wikipedia, "Col Alto is a historic home located at Lexington, Virginia. The original section was built about 1827, and is a two-story, double-pile, three-bay, Georgian style brick dwelling with a hipped roof. In the 1930s, the house was remodeled, enlarged, and modernized by architect William Lawrence Bottomley. Bottomley added the distinctive Palladian style veranda. Also on the property are a contributing barn and log cabin. Col Alto was the home of Congressman James McDowell (1795-1851), for whom the house was built, and Congressman Henry St. George Tucker III (1853-1932).
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. It is now operating as a Hampton Inn and Suites by Hilton."
This is a shot of the log cabin. The sign in front of it reads, "The log cabin before you was built in the mid 1700s. Not much is known about the cabin. Some speculate that the cabin may have originally been used as servant quarters or a summer kitchen. When Col Alto was bequeathed to Washington & Lee University in 1957, it was used to house faculty and students at various times."

Nice architecture's contrast, Murat, both with colors and with texture. The 19th century wooden cabin looks well preserved.
Have a nice sunday,
Ike

Hi Murat
And welcome back from your whirlwind trip to Turkey. I hope the sea snot didn't interfere with your plans! The rustic cottage with its shingle roof and complete lack of paint and thus colour, contrasts strongly with the red brick edifice to its right. The blue sky sets up a good warm cold color contrast. Tfs!

Hi Murat
Builders of log cabins tended not to leave much written history so you can just use your imagination. A good photo of it.
cheers

Hello Murat,
I had expected you to stay longer in your former home city. I'm always looking forward to photos from Istanbul.
I guess you didn't actually stay in this log cabin, and maybe the amenities are not up to date, but it's a nice hut reminding us of the not too distant past. You had a good light from this angle and the colors turned out really well.
Regards,
Gert
PS My photo of the weight lifting ladies was taken before the pandemic, so their gym next door was open. Maybe it was just too hot inside.

Merhaba Murat
This is a lovely log cabin. It looks strange, accompanied by a red brick building and neatly trimmed hedges. Blue sky with lovely fluffy clouds adds interest to the image.
Best wishes
Kasia

Hello Murat,
I wonder how many people would prefer to be housed in the log cabin, rather than the modern hotel.
Your photograph is both sharp and well saturated. I like how you have composed the photograph, the edge of the log cabin and the lamppost sitting on the thirds line.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Murat,
A very nice photo of this old wooden cabin next to the brick building and surrounded by many bright green tones. All colours are very pleasant and attractive.
Lars
PS - No, I haven't been vaccinated yet. I am still too young to even make an appointment for a vaccination. Today, people from 1984 were allowed to do that. I was born in 1985, so hopefully tomorrow, it's my turn. Then it usually takes another 2-3 weeks to get the actual vaccination.

Hello Murat, an interesting note.
Pleased to see that the log cabin has survived, and surprised to read that it was used to house students at various times.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Murat,
Under the previous photo I read that you intend to visit Turkey and here you write that you are back from Turkey already!
I am looking forward to see your photos! It seems you managed to stay safe. That is the most important.
Lovely scene here with the contrast of the old and new. The wooden house versus the modern building in the right.
Great weather day helps to make it eye catching with such nice blue sky.
Very well done,
M

murat
beautiful house, we can see as old the structure in timber is and it produced a nice contrast with the modern buildings around. unfortunately most of the timber houses of my city were lost.
take care
