Photographer's Note
Hello all, Death Valley is a geologic wonder. At first glance, the valley looks desolate and barren but in actuality it holds life and color and an amazing display of rock and sand.
Zabriskies' Point is one of the more recognizable areas of the valley. Photographers seem to love this spot tremendously because of the colors in the rock and the formations with lines and points.
"Zabriskie Point is a part of Amargosa Range located east of Death Valley in Death Valley National Park in California, United States noted for its erosional landscape. It is composed of sediments from Furnace Creek Lake, which dried up 5 million years ago様ong before Death Valley came into existence."
It was named for the general manager and vice president of the Pacific Coast Borax Company.

Ciao Karen
What a wonderful landscape, so unusual, it's almost lunar. You captured some amazing textures and plays of light. The colours are magnificent. Well done, a delight to look at.
Warmest wishes

Howdy Karen,
Your Zabriskie Point image stimulates me to watch the 60s movie, a convulted confusion of Hippy periodism. With the characters wandering around Death Valley, including sunset at Zabriskie Point.
And obviously the road to Zabriskie was open when you visited.
Many good photographic reasons to visit Death Valley, but not now until late next autumn. Summers can kill tourists here.
thanks for sharing,
Cheers,
Ray

Hi Karen,
wow this is a spectacular presentation of this famous spot! I had the pleasure to visit Death Valley twice but sadly in pre-digital times without proper lenses.
Your picture well emphasizes the amazing nature of this place. I would think first that having a bit more shade would make it more attractive but I see that without the shades here you have managed to show the very texture of the rocks. The patterns are amazing. Incredible variety of color tones!
Perfect composition too!
It makes me wanna go there again!
Excellent work,
M
