Sycamore Cove Evening, a photo from カリフォルニア, West

Photographer's Note

Looking out upon the Pacific Ocean towards the Channel Islands, the sun is bidding us farewell until the next day. The beach below is Sycamore Cove and on the other side of the Pacific Coast Highway is Sycamore Canyon where I go mountain biking as often as I can.
Please enjoy my photo.
p.s. those three 'tree' like elements are really the flower stalks of yucca plants. I guess they are at least 20 ft. tall.

the colours in the sky and reflections in the water are wonderful. the silhouetted plants in the foreground provide a great focal point. you have captured a fantastic mood with this image.

So we're facing the Pacifi eh? Does that mean if you dived into the water here and swam and swam, you'd reach Australia? :) A beautiful scene, very romantic and atmospheric. The pastel tones in the sea and sky are wonderdul and I like the sillhouettes of the sycamore trees lining the coast.

Howdy Karen,

Impressive sunset at one of my favorite relaxing beaches. The composition of the Yuccas(?) in the foreground makes this sunset.

I plan to visit the Channel Islands National Park again on my next visit. They have numerous boat excursions open to the public.

Hi Karen,

Boy, does this ever look peaceful and relaxing! Unusual to see such prominent foreground elements in a sunset photo, but this works. I like the three distinct silhouettes that make this different than most. The colors produce a very warm and inviting scene, I imagine this was a great moment to sit back and enjoy the simple things in life by watching the sun dip below the horizon. Good timing and nice execution to give us this image. Lovely shot. Have a great weekend.
