Photographer's Note

I took this photo in late afternoon while hiking in the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado. The dunes are massive (at the time this was taken, the largest dune was around 750 ft tall), and it's often hard to get a good sense of scale when photographing them. I really like the lone hiker on the hill and the colors/shapes of the clouds in this photo, so I tried to emphasize these in post-processing. Hope you enjoy it!

Hi Essie - this is a really bold shot. The figure on the hill is really stark against the exceptional sky here, and I love the light you've got; I do think maybe the FG is a bit dark for the sky, there's something unnatural about the light levels. Nevertheless, a really striking minimalist shot with a great title.
