Photographer's Note

The statue park around Loveland Visitor center is called McWhinney-Hahn Sculpture Park. The Water Carriers by Herb Mignery seems to be the main attraction in the park. Here is what the sculptor says about this work:

"This sculpture is meant to remind us, in an age of pushbutton mechanization, of the tremendous physical labor that was put forth by the men and women of the American frontier. They considered it their daily obligation to perform arduous tasks to achieve what way today would consider meager gains. This is particularly appropriate to this area of Colorado. In that dryland farming with irrigation was, and is, a way of life here."

water is still a major problem around many places in our world, Murat, so this statue, though it is nor new - still carry a contemporary message.

Hi Murat,
I read your note. Recently my washing machine was not working for over a week until we fixed it. I decided to hand wash some essentials and that made me realize how difficult life was in the past without some of the gadgets we now take for granted...

these two sculptures are nice and beautiful, maybe they have an aspect more commercial, made to please the people, sometimes artists produce artwork to offend people. excellent images.
