Photographer's Note

A storm looms coming down out of the high country of the Beartooth Mountains. This is near Absorukee, Montana located along the Stillwater River a tributary of the Yellowstone River. This beautiful river valley is prime cattle country. This river is about 40 miles or 100 kilometers from Yellowstone Park which lies on the other side of the mountain range.

The mood and atmosphere captured here remind me of El Greco's famous 'Toledo' painting. Dramatic dark clouds contrast well with the sunlit fg. Tfs!

That sky has plenty of drama for sure! Good contrasts both on the landscape and clouds. I wonder if the storm is coming or going. Beautiful rural landscape with open fields and some mountains in the background.

This country I travelled through a few years ago but I didn't run into anything like this seen. A great photo of this dark and brooding pre-storm scene.

Hi Giovanni,

This is a great cloud study with those menacing grey clouds. It looks like they are about to open up and release torrential rain. The wide open spaces in the foreground and middle ground add to the drama.
