Modern Architecture in Las Vegas
Architecture in Las Vegas is a remarkable mixture of excellent designed buildings, unscrupulous copies of world famous landmarks and buildings in unrestrained neo styles.
Today three in my opinion excellent designed sky-scraping hotel combinations.
◙ The main picture shows the Elara (formally Planet Hollywood Towers), a Hilton Grand Vacations Hotel and timeshare building of 52-story. The $660 million project opened in December 2009 and was designed by Architect Gerald B. Koi of Morris Architects. In 2017, Huitt-Zollars announces that Morris Architects will be changing its name to Huitt-Zollars.
◙ The first workshop shows the buildings of the Aria Resort and Casino. Aria consists of two curved glass and steel high rise towers adjoined at the centre. It opened on December 16, 2009 as a joint venture between MGM Resorts International and Infinity World Development. At 370,000 m2 and 180 m. in height, it is the largest and tallest structure at City Centre.
The architectural design of Aria was conducted by Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects. C駸ar Pelli, founder of Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, is an Argentine American architect who has designed some of the world's tallest buildings and other major urban landmarks. Some of his most notable contributions include the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur and the World Financial Centre in New York City.
◙ The second workshop shows Vdara Hotel & Spa is a 150,000 m2 condo-hotel and spa located within the City Centre complex across from Aria Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. Vdara opened on December 1, 2009
Vdara's 57-story, 176 m tower houses 1,495 suites.
Vdara was designed by Rafael Vinoly of RV Architecture

I add the dark frame to the picture to give the posts a screen format of 1920x1080 pixels
The idea is that, if you use the links in the text, you have a full screen image of the picture with the photo in the centre of a dark screen.
This works with the browsers and screens I use, but I知 not sure that everybody will have the same result.

Three excellent photographs, all from the blue hour and revealing excellent details as well as superb artistry.
I actually like the one of the Aria best but it is all a matter of taste for each has its own special qualities.

Hello Rob,
One cannot deny that this is one elegant building. You have captured well as the sun goes down. I like the overall atmosphere and the lights and colours. Plus the nicely rendered reflections.

Hello Rob,
These three pictures prove that Las Vegas is more than cheap copies of buildings in other parts of the world. Furthermore you took these photos at a time of the day when the light and the colours of the sky were the most favourable. The glass fa軋des create fantastic reflections, making all photos very attractive.
Kind regards,
Gert

Dag Rob,
Heel mooi foto werk opnieuw. Bedankt.

Hallo Rob,

Hi Rob,
I like the reflections on the windows. The point of view is showing a double perspective of the architecture of the Hilton Grand Vacations. The light is bringing out the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Rob,
A fascinating note and three wonderful photographs of three quite distinctive and different tall modern buildings to illustrate it.
You have obviously taken some considerable time and thought and effort into taking and preparing these photographs as each one is taken in the most favourable light at the most favourable time of day. And each is well presented with wonderfully vibrant colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and clarity.
Superb!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Rob, I do not remember these hotels so they are probably new. It seems that now they build higher and higher. Impressive modern architecture. When I was in Las Vegas, it was like on the construction sites everywhere. So probably they were just building these hotels. Awesome views.

Hi Rob
the Aria and Vdara are two of my favourite buildings in Vegas, they're sleek, modern, attractive and tasteful. glad you added them in the WS's.
this one here is a little less popular, not one of the ones we usually see tourists photographing, so for that reason alone its great to see it on the main page. the red triangle is a fine addition for all that blue, and of course the blue hour light is the best! A simple compo, not one of your abstract versions. cheers
Craig
