Photographer's Note

There are many amazing formations at Bisti Badlands in northwest New Mexico. Time and natural elements have etched this arid land into fantasy world of strange and beautiful formations. The Bisti wilderness area is remote and desolate. You have to hike about 2 miles in before you start seeing interesting formations. If you don't know where you're going, you might end up wandering all day in this vast place. And, if you don't pay attention, you could be lost all day without seeing a soul. This area in is called 典he Wings� for obvious reason, the rock formation looks like bird taking flight. It is not that easy to find this place. On the way back, we were almost lost even with a gps.

Thanks to my partner whose research and planning made it possible for me to see many wonderful places like this. He is the wind beneath my wings.

What a stunning photo. Even in thumbnail it stood out and upon opening it up, it's left me awe inspired. The colours are so stark and beautifully rendered, superb light balance and of course your subject matter is mind blowing. Thanks for sharing.

Happy landing! what a strange looking alien just landed safely up there. What unique opportunity you've had, wow what a gorgeous view of the strange rock formations this looks like a superb photography spot truly an incredible sight. So lovely that I can smell the clean air too. This works brilliantly with great sense of perspective and viewpoint, gorgeous colours, so pin sharp and the immense textures. The clear deep blue sky adds a heap of punch to this making the landscape itself stands out lending such a splendid contrast between earth and sky. Hello Way,
At first I thought the photo was taken in Cappadocia but then I read 'United States'. In your western states you may have even more weird but wonderful rock formations.
Someone else commented that it reminded him of Gaudi's work. I can see the resemblance with the roof of Casa Batll�.
You captured a wonderful detail of this fantasy landscape with perfect sharpness and a extra strong colour contrast.

This is so lovely and unusual. Thanks for hiking out into the middle of nowhere and sharing it with us. :-) To me, the scene reminds me of an aquarium, but without the water. The rocks look like those you might find inside a large aquarium tank, and the formation at the top instantly reminded me of a sting ray. Beautiful colors and textures in this photo, too.

Or flippers. This also looks similar to a sea turtle. Good sharpness and fantastic warm cold color contrast between the blue sky and yellow reddish toned rocks. The hoodoos are pin sharp and captured from a superb low shooting angle. Excellent saturation, density and tight framing. Tfs!

Anyway, great to read your note explaining how you arrived at a so desolated and quite impressive place, where super color contrast with the sky and rocks formations are very interesting

Amazing photograph here. It iseems almost unrealistic and unearthly. I thought that after I have seen in the Southwest and sfter seeing some more photos I cannot be surprised anymore but I am.
This shapes are so extraordinary! Excellent composition with great details and fantastic colors.
