Photographer's Note
I think wide open spaces like these are harder to compose. Should I use the rule of thirds or not? Black and white, or color? Should there be anything in the foreground? I set my camera in between the two props that were left behind by another photographer no doubt. And thought about the outcome. Many times our emotions can cloud our trained judgement. Later after the exhilaration of the scene has subsided......we are left to ponder. What should I have done.

Hi Jimmy
All those choices we make as photographers... The composition, the crop, the medium. At least in the digital age we can change some of those later.
Whichever is the case, you've got a great shot here. It's beautiful and surreal, the foreground props create interest but also draw the viewer's eye towards the distant horizon. It's beautifully simple and graphic.
Best wishes
Kasia

Hello Jimmy, the three objects could be the inspiration for a story.
It is a surreal scene, perfect in the monotone presentation.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Jimmy,
I remember the colour version of this photo. Quite interesting in BW elaboration as well. What I would need is a writing desk and I would be happy to work. :)
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Hi Jimmy,
Interesting photo with an interesting contrast result given by this b&w version, original composition, good depth effect with this desert landscape, tfs.

Interesting to see the bl/w variation of your previous post, Jimmy. Not the same shot obviously and a very different feel altogether...but don't ask me which one I prefer...that'd be too close to call:)
Congratulations

Hi Jimmy
I also like your 5 photos shot, that really gives us a wide angle view. as for this one, you pretty much said what goes through my mind each time I take a photo :) So many thoughts, and sometimes I over-think it. I wonder what would happen to the chair, camera, tripod and light over a 20 year period...just leaving it here, would the salt corrode it? that would be a fun experiment. fun shot, it works well in the black and white. cheers
