Photographer's Note
LIGHT SURROUNDING THE TUNNEL I
Three months ago I had posted a photograph shot from virtually the same vantage point, Light at the End of the Tunnel. In that image the 60 meter (200 foot) long tunnel connecting the East and West Buildings of the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, was presented with the walls of the tunnel in subdued light, and the end of the tunnel in brilliant sunlight. There the narrow parallel slats created an effective demonstration of one-point perspective. That image is well worth seeing as a counterpoint to the present photo. Recently, a light show designed by Leo Villareal, an artist from New York, was unveiled, completely inverting the light conditions depicted in that earlier image the light areas becoming dark, and the dark becoming light. In Villareal痴 work, "MULTIVERSE," the passageway glitters with 41,000 light-emitting diodes (LED), inserted into the channels between its aluminum slats, creating a mesmerizing light show. The ever-changing pattern of lights are meant to mimic the universe (or still better multi-universes). The lights turn on and off in a choreographed manner, and create a swirling waves across the surface, and a suggestion of 鍍winkling stars, rushing water and bouncing polka dots. What becomes clear in watching the patterns, however, is the random order in the patterns. The light show is scheduled to be on display through 2009.
I had my pocket camera on hand when I shot this image, steadying the camera on a post bearing a sign. Nikon Coolpix S600.

Merhaba Profesr,

Hello Blent,
Indeed all these lights create the impression that you aren't anymore in a tunnel but in a much bigger space and also a bit the feeling of being very tiny in the big universe.
You've choosen the best POV; at the wall to the right side there aren't any lights.
Well done.

Merhaba, Bulent -
This is a fantastic shot, pocket camera or no. Superbly positioned, the lights forming diagonals sending the eye to the distant point of light where man and energy meet. And I have no doubt that you waited for the people on the slideway to reach that exact point.
Well done!

Dear Professor 'A'
I certainly remember you earlier post of the tunnel & what a contrast. Apart from the excellent perspective, what I like is the C shaped exit at the end, which was not highlighted in your earlier post. There's an effect of a vortex here as the viewer is sucked in to the end of the tunnel. With these lights glittering, it must be a scene to watch. Good work!

Hello Blent,
I did a pause of a few days and this marvel already got 114 deserved points... Not really a surprise, because it is really so attractive. The sense of perspective produced by the tunnel itself and wonderfully enhanced by the tiny lights is stunning. One has the sensation of being in the front of a futurist subway train. The compo is great and the the exposure is spotlessly done. That little gadget of yours seems to beat much high end DSLR's.

hello Bulent,
as in the other photo you mention, perspective has a very important role here, and I find the feeling of an endless tunnel fits very well with the concept of multi-universes. I like a lot the futuristic feeling of the cool colours of the lights arranged with military precision, but with enough random elements to prevent the scene from becoming monotonous. and I'm very impressed with the quality, didn't expect such a noise-free photo from a compact camera in low light. nice, very nice :)

Excellent perpective with the rows of light converging toward the opening of the tunnel. And the blue-grey color is very pleasant.
All the best,

hi Bulent,
if the real thing is even 0,5% as impressive as your photo, I really think I could have lost myself in it... =)
truly beautiful for me, who love light and its different temperatures and changes.
the off-centre end of the tunnel emphasizes the LEDs perfectly.
really a good shot.

Hello my friend,
what great perspective and depth you've created in this fine image and the shaprness is spot on. Aren't the modern compacts wonderful? A superb capture Bulent, it feels like it's sucking me in.
Warm regards,
Stephen

Hello Bulent,
This image has already garnered a lot of attention - and deservedly so! The POV and execution are wonderful! We are taken right into this space, and surrounded on almost all sides. The DOF almost makes it seem as though the rows of light are moving towards us, creating an effect of opposite momentum in the tunnel. Really nice!

Hi Bulent,
it does not take too much, just a creative mind and the result can be outstanding. The idea here is simply fantastic and your talented observing eye captured it perfectly. The space just draws us in...like being hypnotized and swallowed by spaceous vortex of lights due to accented perspective. This tunnel now breathes. It has a volume, yes, universe feeling to it and it makes one stay in it admiring wonderful effects so perfectly displayed. I know I would spend here some time for sure. :)
Excellently seen and presented,
jeri

Hello Professor
even after a year i look into your gallery you still take time out to make great images..photos..stories..inspiring !
This one..well what can one say..youve nailed it with your coolpix..the intorduction of the lights from the edge way deep into the compo..impressive..the human element was much required and yet not distracting...
Goo graphic and visual appeal..enjoyed it
Cheers

Hi Bulent
Excellent effect in the tunnel captured perfectly. It looks really great and DOF is at its best. Fine color hues and sharpness. Well done
Thanks for your critique of my rural scene. Actually it's a white duck and not a chicken. I'm even not sure if this duck can be eaten. Some of the ducks working as pest hunter in the paddy cannot be eaten and as far as I know it's the white one. Also his beck is a bit different then to the colored duck.
Best regards
