Photographer's Note

TE痴 such a sharing place. Shortly before travelling to the US, I visited a photo that Barbara took of Utah. She kindly offered to lend me her Utah guide book and a few days later it arrived by mail. Of course it was much more detailed than my guide book covering the national parks of western US. One thing that struck me was a penciled in X next to a paragraph about the Crystal Geyser near Green River (north west of Arches National Park). It was written that even though the geyser only erupts 2 to 4 times a day (up to a height of 40m)) the colorful surroundings (due to accumulated minerqals) are still worth the visit even if you don稚 see it in action. As I love colours, it was a worthwhile detour even though it only bubbled when we were there.
For info, the geyser is not volcanic and is cold-water. It痴 pressurized carbon dioxide.
Anyway I would like to thank Barbara for lending me her guide book and for marking the cross.

Bien s皞 il 騁ait bien plus d騁aill� que mon guide sur les parcs nationaux de l弛uest am駻icain. Une chose qui m誕 frapp� 騁ait une croix dessin� e� c� d置ne rubrique concernant le geyser Crystal situ� pr鑚 de Green River (nord-ouest du parc national des Arches). C帝tait 馗rit que bien que le geyser n弾ntre en 駻uption (jusqu亭 une hauteur de 40m) que 2 � 4 fois par jours, les alentours color駸 (� cause de l誕ccumulation de min駻aux) valent toujours la visite m麥e sans le voir en action. Comme j誕dore des couleurs, le d騁our en valait la peine bien qu段l ne faisait que quelques bulles durant notre visite.
Pour info, le geyser n誕 rien de volcanique mais de gaz carbonique pressuris� et l弾au est froide. Donc, j誕imerais remercier Barbara pour m誕voir pr黎� son guide et pour avoir marqu� la croix.

Nikki :))) I was just about to see what is in my fridge slowly getting hungry when I saw ... well my name and I thought is this really me or someone else. I mean maybe there is another Baba version here on TE, you never know. Oh you are very welcome with the book, it has crossed the big wide ocean a couple of times meanwhile, it travelled far and led to many little stories as it shows. Your picture is a great example what a detail shot can trigger. Love the strong colors and how you turned the camera to make somethig really special. I remember why I made the cross in the book. It says that you should go there at night, seeing the geysir with moonshine, possibly camping there :))) I am lost, too romantic, but it made you go there. Fantastic shot, love it. Have a great night, I am realy hungry now ... Barbara.

Great colours, would have made a fine painting to hang on the wall. It would have been interesting to know the dimensions of this.

Hi Nikki,
Hmm, this looks like a close up shot of my pot of curry soup with drizzles of red chilly oil, Yum. Okay, I'm thinking about food again, it's my lunch time. Very interesting place I must say. I was in Green River area a few times but have not a chance to see it. Because I did not get a guide book from Barbara with an X on it.
Very nice shot, great abstract work and strong colors and visually very attractive. Thanks

J'ai cru tout d'abords, qu'il s'agissait d'une d馘icace � Marie. Ces couleurs flamboyantes auraient pu en 黎re le sujet. Les teintes que prennent les roches environnantes donnent de tr鑚 beaux sujets de photographie.
Tu as su en profiter.

Tout d'abord merci d'avoir mis une version large en WS qui permet de mieux appr馼ender le sujet.
J'avoue qu'au premier regard, j'騁ais un peu perdue, ne sachant pas tr鑚 bien ce que je regardais, tout en 騁ant compl鑼ement subjugu馥 par ces couleurs chaudes magnifiques.
Le travail sur la mati鑽e est excellent, tr鑚 fin, et les couleurs sont explosives. Une vignette qu'on ne peut pas rater ;o)
Tr鑚 chouette anecdote en plus, bravo...

As with everyone else an excellent representation of geyser bacterial mat.

And being an American explorer of the West, I am glad to read your note and have always missed this place on my sojourns. Going to Utah later this month and hope to find this 'guy'.

Especially with the link to Barbara, I thought this was taken from the air, and now my head's all wrong with the scale. The colours are amazing. (I wonder if it is bacterial mats like those on the hot springs in Yellowstone) It's probably unique on TE. Excellent!

Sencilla pero muy atractiva foto. El trabajo con la composici es sencillo pero muy efectivo y me gusta tanto su grafismo como por sus contrastes y color.
