Disappear into Anchorage, a photo from アラスカ, West

Photographer's Note

I took this on my way back from a trip to Seward in the late afternoon. The train was designed for sight-seeing, including the deck this was taken from. I wanted to have just enough curve of track the capture the train as it disappears into the overcast of Anchorage.

This is, to my eye, a fine artistic photograph, in the same vein as the early masters of B/W photography. Wonderful vertical view with a strong relection in the windows. It evokes a quiet, silent mood.

Hello Nick - this is a fascinating view. Firstly the light is extraordinary. The flash of white snow is reflected well in the train's window and echoed in the metal strip on the carriage and again with the bleached branches running parralel to the track. Lots of textural interest - glossy train, hard gritty earth and soft cloud. Very, very nice. Best wishes Rosemary

An usual view that has been handled very well. I particularly like the reflection in the train and the very stormy sky.
