Photographer's Note

When we first arrived at Monument Valley this day the sky was mostly overcast but very late in the afternoon the clouds started breaking up and the sun angle fell below the clouds that were still there.

As we were taking our 2nd drive through the valley that day we noticed a cloud formation above the Left (or West) Mitten that reminded us of smoke signals.

Gregory you really managed to capture this one at the optimum time making the monument look like the smoke stack etc. Excellent lighting and great timing for this perspective.

A really stunning image - great and fortuitous timing, along with deep colors and clarity. The interplay of light and shadow create a sense of the massive scope of the place, and add to the sense of mystery and wonder you so perfectly capture here.

I 'd not yet pictures of Monument Valley in my theme "most beautiful landscapes on Eart" . What an oversight !
So , this one is perfect , to repair this forgetting . This capture is outstanding , with a great light and a fantastic sky .

Excellent capture of natures sculpture , the cloud over the rocky structure is giving it a mystical appearance .. .The atmosphere created is just so inviting ..

the indians are going to attack you! Superb composition enhanced by the lateral light, some cloufs give a shadow on the mitten, varying their color. Cherry on the cake: the cloud seeming to issue from the top.
