Photographer's Note
We are in the We Are Prepared to Die: The Freedom Rides 1961 exhibit of National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tennessee.
Freedom Riders were civil rights activists who rode interstate buses into the segregated southern United States in 1961 and subsequent years to challenge the non-enforcement of the United States Supreme Court decisions Morgan v. Virginia (1946) and Boynton v. Virginia (1960), which ruled that segregated public buses were unconstitutional. The Southern states had ignored the rulings and the federal government did nothing to enforce them. The first Freedom Ride left Washington, D.C., on May 4, 1961, and was scheduled to arrive in New Orleans on May 17. On May 14, Mother's Day, in Anniston, Alabama, a mob of Klu Klux Klansmen attacked the first of the two buses (the Greyhound). The driver tried to leave the station, but was blocked until KKK members slashed its tires. The mob forced the crippled bus to stop several miles outside of town and then threw a firebomb into it. As the bus burned, the mob held the doors shut, intending to burn the riders to death. Sources disagree, but either an exploding fuel tank or an undercover state investigator brandishing a revolver caused the mob to retreat, and the riders escaped the bus. (From Wikipedia.)
This is a view of the burnt-out Greyhound bus now on display in the museum. The workshop photos, Broken People, Broken Bus I and Broken People, Broken Bus III, show the interior of the bus and the bus from a different angle, respectively.

Bonjour, cher Murat,
L'homme est l'esp鐵e la plus insens馥, il v駭鑽e un Dieu invisible et massacre une nature visible. Sans savoir que cette nature qu'il massacre est ce Dieu invisible qu'il v駭鑽e.
Triste r饌lit. Int駻essante note d'accompagnement;

No wonder it was kept as it was after the raid, Murat.
Unbelievable story, something I knew that happend - but not with the details you noted. What people can do to others... Good reportage.
Have a nice new week,
Ike

Hello Murat,
An historic vehicle commemorating the terrible things that men do to one another in the name of colour. Excellent documentary presentation.

Hello Murat,
It's another interesting and chilling reminder of the 1960's, but someone might say that there were "very fine people on both sides" even on that occasion.

Gert

Hello Murat,
An excellent photo of this bus, which is still a silent witness to what happened not even so long ago. You handled the lighting well.

Hello Murat,
A sinister reminder of the deep divisions which although much improved since 1961, still have a long way to go and sadly, it seems it's on the comeback and reversing rather than improving this decade. Tfs!

Hi Murat,
this is a very interesting reportage from yet another unknown to me museum.
The only thing which bothers me a bit is the noise in the photo as a consequence of the high ISO setting.
I really recommend using noise filter like Neat Image software. Quick and simple and demo version is free I think.
It should improve the effect.
The broken bus is certainly an unexpected thing to see in a museum.
Great work,
M
