Photographer's Note
There is something about jumping a horse over a fence, something that makes you feel good. Perhaps it's the risk, the gamble. In any event it's a thing I need.

A work of art in my book Animesh - well framed by the square format - great surface grain - stunning contrast ....andf that's before we even get to the subject......beautifully caught in motion......fantastic shot...into my favourites too.....

Hi Animesh,
Ouf ! I like the impression of movement the grain and the deep black of this shot. I don't know if such a quality could have been reached with digital photography. A very good artistic shot.

THat's pretty damn amazing, Animesh, a very strong composition which is, if anything, enhanced by the blur. Strong stuff as I say, surprised Homerhomer hasn't zeroed in on it yet..;o)
Best,

dear Animesh, I know I have been neglecting you (and just about anyone else on this site) as of late, for which I apologise, and as a sign of remorse will pay for your beer next time we meet;-)
I have seen this photo few time already and am still trying to gather my thoughts to express how exactly I feel about it.
This image combines for me brute force with sheer elegance, it's one of those that makes me get up my chair because the horse is so close, so powerfull yet he is like a butterly.
The tones, the movement, the shutter speed etc are first class, generally I love the image, but for some reason feel it still could have been better. At the moment I am not sure why or how it could have been done differently, the only reason I could come up with is that perhaps the framing is a bit tight.

another great one, but i wish the frame were more rectangular frame than a square one in here.. my eyes are looking for a bit more space.. apart from that, i simply love it, i wouldnt mind to see an enlarged version of it on my wall.. :) grain and the blur are just the types that i love here..looks like a real charcoal drawing to me.
beautiful shot overall Mr.Ray.

Hello Animesh!
This shot makes me think of Hemingway's prose. It's got a brutal, spare beauty. Just a tremendous shot.
Like Peter, I've been scarce, and sorry about it...

I cc Peter for everyhting !
The force, the energy really stand out and the b/w + grain only enhance those feelings. The more interesting here are not demonstrative but in contrary a pretty well controlled force, smooth ... giving even more power to the photo.

Hi Animesh!
When I saw this picture (and here, it is not only a photo, but truly a picture!) when you posted it, my jaw just dropped. I instantly chose it as a favorite. At the time, I could not say a word about it. And I came back to it more than once. It still has a powerful impact on me. It goes in the categorie of photos that are difficult for me to talk about.
I am in the same situation of when you dream an unsettling and powerful dream, but when you try to recount the story, you feel that it is just impossible. Words don't come. Or when they come, you have to add: "no, that's not it". Frustrating. Because you understand the importance of the dream but yet, it is evanescent.
This picture comes from one of those dreams. And I am in the situation of not been able to explain why this photo is touching me.
Just a small addition: it seems that there is more words in French for "dream". We have "r黐e", "songe" and "onirique". Each time I was looking for a translation, it was always "dream", "dream" and "dreamlike". Maybe my 'critique' (ouaaa!) would have been a bit more interesting in French, but... I decided to spare you! ;)
Anyway, thanks for this beauty. I'm really happy to be able to look at it many times again...
Claire

I can't believe I haven't seen this one until now; very powerful, romantic portrayal of the rider and horse. As has probably been mentioned already, the strong point here is the contrast and the moment; the brilliant white and grey horse against the darkness. But I feel it needs more empty, black space behind the horse to be impeccable.

gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous! nothing to complain about whatsoever (well o.k. you know me :-)..; just perhaps the square format.. it was probably the best choice here but i still wonder..)
