Photographer's Note
Goblin Valley State Park - Utah
30 sec exposure to keep the stars still instead of star trails. There wasn't any town or cities for miles away but the camera still picked up some ambient light in the lower part of the background. The goblins were painted with a flash light. I did make another exposure with star trails behind.

Very cool shot Steve. Funny title too. The exposure is beautiful as is the composition. I have yet to photograph Goblin Valley, but this is inspiring. Nice work.

Wow Steve! The density of the stars is just amazing. Very well seen and very good of you to show so much of the sky in the frame.

Very nice shot, both technically and compositionally. It has a kind of "Star Trek" feel to it, except that this is real.
The ambient light that you complained doesn't bother me; I think it blends in nicely. Makes it a better picture, in fact.

Very original picture. The presence of these weird rock formations is perfect for the starry sky.

Hi Steve,
This very sophisticated compo really works well; you really did a great job of painting for the best detail. I like the stares as white dots although it would also be interesting to see the trailed version. The title is perfect, the note useful, but not windy. HLJ, Pat

Steve,
Very interesting and worthwhile shot - it reminds me somewhat of this photo. Turn down the light, and enjoy!!

Steve,
an extremely well crafted shot. I like the idea of the flash light painting. That is something I tried once and it just didn't work out at all. The balance of light between the rocks and the sky is perfect! An encouraging post to get out there and try it again ...
Regards, Peter
