Photographer's Note
A bit of a change for me, and the first shot I've uploaded from my new toy, the Olympus OM-D.
The title could apply to the men, by the look of them - and the sound, definitely the musicianship - but comes from the name of the song they were belting out on the balcony of the Town Hall Hotel during last Sunday's 'Spring Fling'. It's an annual Spring festival held in the main street of North Melbourne, where I live. The street is closed off, the trams which go down the middle are diverted to another route, and much eating, drinking and carousing is enjoyed while the local traders flog their wares from stalls, and loud bands compete with each other from the hotel and stages set up at each end of the 300 metre section of street.
The Town Hall Hotel maintains itself with determination as 'grungy'
- slightly shabby, down-at-heel, rough at the edges - with music and patrons to match the patina of grunge.
I don't even know the name of the band, but I can tell you the singer looked like a worn-out individual with a voice to match; surely one of yesterday's heroes.
More shots to be posted in the WS.

Hi, Andrew,
Good result of your new device. The interesting note and good illustration. Good capture of a rock'n'roll expression! Unfortunatelly, the are not AC/DC.
Best regards,
Serghei

Hi Andrew,
It really looks like they are enjoying themselves, whatever kind of music they perform. As I canエt hear them, I just enjoy the composition with their arms providing parallel lines above the pattern of the railing. A good capture!
Kind regards

Hello Andrew,
Rock musicians never die (provided they survive beyond 27), they never even grow up :-).
These middle-aged men seem to enjoy themselves as much as they did 30 years ago, probably performing the same song. I like the good-humoured action and their mirrored postures.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Andrew. A somewhat "noisy" image considering your usually restrained photos. Not my cup of tea, but credit to you for capturing a moment full of vitality or is it angst. Regards. Klaudio.

Hello Andrew,
I absolutely love this photo for the spontaneous and earnest way the two musicians live and enact a stereotype both they and their audience enjoy. Your composition from an upward point of view, the tight frame that includes the railing, the two musicians sharing a passionate moment facing to opposite directions, the excellent lighting that makes the skin tones stand out and show a vulnerability in the dark ambiance, everything is marvellous. We have seen and will continue seeing in the future the same scene with heroes of different ages and styles and always enjoy it. Your workshop pictures provide very interesting and useful context. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely week,
Ourania

Hi Andrew,
'patina of grunge' is a very nice describtion of this scenery. Look at the hands of the singer!
I wonder what he did as a profession during the last 25 years!?! ; )
Enjoy your new toy. The IQ is amazing.

Hi Andrew,
Excellently captured image I think that they deserve a stage, rather than a balcony. Even Grungy is a bit fading, but they are back. "Yesterday' heroes"?..if You ask them, they would say:".. absolutely not!":-D Good day, Andrew.

Hello Andrew,
Heroes of yesterday but real singer songwriters of today.
The singer has a very rough appearance, but very alert.
Excellent composition and wonderful captured.

Hi Andrew,
A really fine first post taken which your new Olympus OM-D camera. You have captured these two band members perfectly in classic rock poses. I also like the composition and framing. The vertical format is perfect and the band members are positioned in a way that creates dynamics to the scene. TFS and have a nice Sunday!
Kind regards,
Ulf
P.S. I often say that it is possible to find information in the internet about almost anything in almost no time at all. The name of the band is as far I understand Gary Lovelace & Smoke Machine. See them play Yesterday痴 hero See them play Yesterday痴 hero here

Hello Andrew,
This and the WS both have a really perfect rock n' roll feel - just the right amount of movement and caught at ideal moments. This particular pose meshes well with your title - a classic guitar hero posture! My initial reaction seeing the lead singer was AC/DC, but of course no shorts, no hat, no strut... Just a hard-working band that love their music enough to keep playing it into their middle years. Nicely captured.
Andrew
PS - and thanks for looking into the new category! Obviously if it's a hassle then no worries, but it seemed like something that might be useful - to me, anyway!

Hello Andrew,
These Olympus are great, I've got an EPL2 and it really did give me a kick phography wise. Your capture is full of that raw rock'n'roll energy. Those old heroes have it all : attitude, hair (at least one of them), tattoes to match ... Great decisive moment,
Have a nice day,
Emmanuel

HI Andrew
heheheh great title, I couldn't think of a more appropriate one. And as you say, not your usual genre of photo. But it's extremely well shot and you have frozen the moment perfectly. Great note too.
Thanks for sharing, have a lovely week

hello andrew ~
absolutely love this one! i know guys just like this, and these two are bringing it with everything they've got, not phoning it in, love how you've captured that. grabbing this shot at a moment when their backs were to each other is more interesting and effective than if they'd been facing one another.
life may have given them some knocks but they still can still rock -- your photo says a lot -- well captured!

Hello Andrew
Those experienced guys seem quite meticulous while taping a demo intended for the 'Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' band!
Cheerful mood indeed!
