Photographer's Note

It was our wedding anniversary a couple of days ago and we decided to revisit the city (Wagga Wagga in the Riverina region of new South Wales) where we met and lived after we were married many years ago.
We drove out to the nearby farming district and town of Lockhart. There we discovered a thriving community project using old farm materials to create rustic works of art such as this one of a kangaroo and an emu on a quiet back road just inside a farm fence. Both of these animals appear on the Australian coat of arms.
In the workshop is a close up of the kangaroo showing a joey (baby) in its pouch and also a decorated car just nearby with the title "hand-e-car".

Hi Ian
Good symmetry between the marsupial at left and the flightless bird at right. Brilliant artwork using common everyday items. Tfs!

Hello Ian,
Beautiful art? Well...
Funny and inventive? Absolutely!
Against the background of the well processed clouds these statues seem to rise to the level of minuments.
Best regards,

Hello Ian,
I am a great fan of art, like this, which reuses everyday materials and creates something very pertinent to the region.
You have shown us excellent details of these creations.
In our village, very much a farming area, we have four sheep made from reused materials, all feeding from an animal feeder full of of flowers. It was extended by adding a shepherd but, sadly, this figure attracted the attention of rowdy teenagers!!!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Ian,
That's a good use of junk and discarded materials. Well spotted. The perspective makes them look quite tall, standing above the trees in the background. Great detail in the larger images.

Hello Ian, I love to see works like this, where materials are recycled.
It just need a little imagination and a bit of know - how in fixing the pieces together.
I like the natural surroundings, the cloudy sky makes a lovely background.
Thanks for sharing, kind regards, Jean.

Hi Ian
Your post brought a smile on my face not just because I really like these works of art and there is something heartwarming about the fact they were made from locally recycled materials but also because you mentioned Wagga Wagga, the city I travelled to 4 years ago. I hope to see some images from there too.
I also really like the background of clouds and the fact you chose the panoramic format to focus almost entirely on the two "animals".
Best wishes
Kasia

Hi Ian,
that is quite charming art, I suppose made of recycled materials which makes it quite a noble idea.
We can definitely recognize the animals :)
Even though it seems to be a cloudy day the effect with the dark clouds in the sky is quite attractive.
Very nice reportage,
M

Hello Ian,
Its always nice, when a community has such kind of community initiatives. There is a village nearby Miskolc, where old tires decorated with different patterns are used as flower plots.
Best Wishes,
Gy.
PS: Congratulations on your long and successful marriage.
