Photographer's Note
Carnaby's Black-Cockatoos, endemic to the south west of Australia, are a threatened species. A group regularly visited this Banksia tree in suburban Perth while I was there last week

Hi Steve
All the black cockatoos are hard to photograph with their dark wings and liking of bushy shrubs and trees for food but you done a good job here getting its head and a good glint in its eye.
cheers

Hello Steve,
It's quite a cute bird and you found it in a nice environment and handled the dof well. The background is nicely colourful.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Stephen,
Excellent use of a shallow dof with good sharpness and a neutral, oof bg. The black cockatoo seems interested in the Banksia tree. Tfs!

Hi Stephen,a bird in your gallery like in mine today, but your is obviouly more rare and beautiful. Good capture, not lucky with the location over the blurred leaves, but still good with an excellent DOF and perfect exposure. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Stephen, you have managed an excellent sharp focus on the Cockatoo and the leaves whilst having a lovely blurred background. And, the catchlight in its eye.
That beak looks as if it could be dangerous!
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Stephen,
It is always sad to learn about any species being under threat, especially in Australia, where the fauna are so specific.
I take part in the Big Bird Count in the U.K. and have just had the results, telling which birds are doing well and which are seriously in decline!
This is a very crisp photograph of the Black Cockatoo. It looks such a cheeky chappie, not at all worried about its predicament.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)
