Photographer's Note
Can you guess where this is? There is a clue in the photo. That's right, it's the tree on the left - a Port Jackson fig. Port Jackson is another name for Sydney Harbour, and these fig trees grow all around the harbour. And yes, that bridge in the background might be another clue.
This is a part of the Sydney Botanic Gardens called Mrs Macquaries Point. The scene is a classic sunny afternoon on the harbour, with the sunlight reflecting off the water like a thousand sparkling diamonds, and people walking, running, sitting down and generally having a nice time. This was the first day of winter in Australia. I grew up in Sydney, but I lived in the outer suburbs, a long way from the harbour, so I didn't visit it often. But every time I went there it was a fantastic experience, and it still is.

Hello Vincent,
You composed this very nicely. Impressive trees used to frame the view, the sun beautifully reflected in the water and two persons seen as silhouettes against the brightest area. The Port Jackson fig was unknown to me, but the bridge looked a bit familiar, so maybe Sydney could have come to my mind anyway. You handled the slightly difficult light well and it created nice shadows on the lawn.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Vincent, a slightly different view of the famous bridge, yet still recognisable with its distinctive lines.
The trees frame it beautifully.
I like the presence of the people, especially the two who are silhouetted against the brightness of the water.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Vincent,
A great shot with one of the most famous bridges in the world. Harbour Bridge is framed so wonderfully by the large trees in the foreground and the pattern of shades in the green grass. The people are well included as well and stand out nicely from the water.

Hi Vincent,
Sydney Botanic Gardens is just great. I'm glad that you combined the garden and the bridge view giving an angle that is not so usual. Good shot with strong contrasts giving a good idea of the intense light there.

Hello Vincent,
This is a beautiful scene. I like the silhouettes of the trees and also the people. The play of light and shadow is lovely, and the bridge is iconic. I did guess that this was Sydney from the thumbnail. :-) Take care!

Hi Vincent, very nice idea to take the bridge from the botanic gardens, creating a natural green frame around the modern architechture,an excellent backlight well exposed and very sharp. Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Hi Vincent
this is like me...i don't live in Vancouver, I live in the outer suburbs, so I don't get to photograph all the great subjects Van has to offer, that often. So i totally understand your position. and i totally appreciate this different view of the bridge. its a very pretty and effective composition, creative. well done! cheers

Hi Vincent,
Great composition with a famous silhouette of the Harbour Bridge. I know it more because of the similarity to the Tyne Bridge in the Newcastle upon Tyne, not far from where I live.
You have perfectly used the vegetation for asymmetric framing. The silhouettes of people add nice touch.
Excellent quality work,
M
